Task Force: VALKYRIE is a conspiracy of hunters that exists as a top secret United States government agency dedicated to hunting down and removing all traces of the unexplainable. The purpose of VALKYRIE is quite simple: for any report of supernatural activity that threatens U.S. security, agents are sent to assess, report, and neutralize the threat. While there are proper procedures, the best VALKYRIE agents have learned that to survive, sometimes one must break through the red tape.
History
VALKYRIE has origins as far back as 1865, when a group of special agents attempted to rescue Abraham Lincoln from a supernatural force; their failure forced them to create Lincoln's assassination as a cover-up. From there, their duties to fight the creatures of darkness continued, unofficially and out of the public eye. They were finally officially organized as Task Force: VALKYRIE by the Joint Chiefs of Staff in 1944 when the government realized the Nazis were not above using supernatural allies.
After proving quite effective against their dark enemies in the war, they continued to be involved in a number of missions, most notably the Roswell incident.
Organization
The members and use of VALKYRIE are among the most secret of secret organizations; even the President of the United States is unaware of their existence. New agents are implanted with a special chip that allows them to operate the specialized arsenal created just for the Task Force. An agent who fail to live up to expectations or grossly violate operating code have their memories erased and are placed in offshore prison facilities for the rest of their life.
Three major operations are run out of VALKYRIE: Project TWILIGHT works with supernatural entities that are human or nearly human, such as mages; they often do the most undercover work of the operations. Operation FORT looks after entities that appear to be extraterrestrial and extradimensional, such as changelings, demons, ghosts, and good old-fashioned aliens. Operation ADAMSKI are the clean-up operation; they are the true "Men in Black", erasing and destroying information, circulating fake pictures or video, or doing whatever else is needed to put the public eye at ease.
