A meeting held by Lenny Pope at the Avalon in the middle of September 2011 [1]

  • Lenny Pope hosts the meeting of the Carthian Movement, but does not attend. Instead, he leaves a length of rope and an instruction manual on making nooses. Jonathan Mclean and Brenn Lawrence arrive, and John expresses that they might as well use the rope to bind their Covenant together, instead of hanging themselves. Lance Rayner and Sarah LaFleur arrive, as John gives Brenn a formal invitation to join the Carthians. [2]
  • Lance Rayner points out that Lenny Pope had the meeting held at the Invictus Prince's Court, and that they should be careful, as the room is likely under surveillance. Jonathan Mclean agrees, starts to look around for listening devices and asks if anyone would like to take notes. Sarah LaFleur suggests they should introduce themselves first. Lance adds that the Prince probably wouldn't appreciate them ripping the room apart. [3]
  • After some probing, Jonathan Mclean eventually gets the ball rolling, and introduces himself, explaining his history with the Movement. Lance Rayner chips in, revealing his own history as a low-level legbreaker for the Carthians in his home city, and Sarah LaFleur and Brenn Lawrence speak of their Unaligned positions. [4]
  • Lance Rayner asks why the only member of the current Carthian Movement present is Jonathan Mclean. John explains that the previous Prefect, Ciara Maskelyne, has left the city, as has prospective member Katrina Scherbotsky. The group begins to discuss the past mistakes of the Movement. John suggests that he can only demonstrate the Movement's worth by his actions, but doesn't offer any real ideas. Lance suggests getting a meeting place that is not under the eyes of the Invictus. [5]
  • Brenn Lawrence puts forwards that there might be a way to gain Tenancy in one of the empty regencies. Jonathan Mclean points out that he is the only real member of the Movement, and suggests that he be an envoy to the Domain of sorts. Lance Rayner clarifies that Brenn does not mean to carve out their own 'Domain' in the empty regencies, and points out that the Prince does not trust them- that there is no reason they would be able to claim a Regency. He then slaps down John's idea by pointing out that Domain has absolutely no respect for the current Movement, and that they would see him only as a weak Prefect; and that further, the Movement has no goals or base at present. Sarah LaFleur supports Lance's position, and suggests they see who naturally emerges as Prefect, instead of rushing to appoint one and find out that they are utterly incompetent. Again. John insists that he only wanted to be an envoy to the Domain. Sarah indicates that whoever becomes the envoy must remove themselves from the running for Prefect in the future, to prevent backdoor self-appointments. John agrees. The Movement briefly argue, with Brenn managing to both support and argue against the same position in one sentence, to the confusion of everyone else.[6]
  • Brenn Lawrence finally drops the florid language enough to get her point across- that the current Movement has no goals or purpose, and they need to establish some before they can really state anything else. She adds her own wishes for that goal and purpose- equality for all, liberty for all, and freedom. Lance Rayner bluntly points out his long term goals- to settle into allies and contacts, and power. Jonathan Mclean agrees with Brenn's goals, and speaks of the freedom of neonates. Sarah LaFleur expresses that she wants a Movement which does not judge anyone on the state of their Requiem. As they debate over their purpose, Brenn rapidly comes to the realization that she feels this is a sinking ship, and she does not wish to go down with it. She leaves, much to the disgust of the other Carthians.[7]
