Councilor of the Moros
Appearance
Slightly below average height for an English man, Chambers stands at 5ft 8' with a nest of dark curls on top his head shot through with grey giving him an older appearance then his early thirties years of life. When his beard is grown in it likewise has the encroaching grey of middle age.
Otherwise he is quite unremarkable as people go. He has lived a comfortable life and while not overweight was pushing that way when he first arrived in Sacramento, he has over the last several months lost a little weight for those who know what to look for although it has done little to help his overall fitness.
The Casual clothes and cheap robes have given way to more frequent use of suits that make use of the full grey palette. The move to professional academic from scruffy scholar was more then happen stance, given it coincided with his push to take up the role of councillor of the Moros, and more serious reconstruction of the Consilium. Mounting responsibilities change people. And the right image helps.
Nimbus
The sounds of the unquiet dead can be heard, dozens of whispers seem to emanate from unseen sources and most certainly unliving throats.
A choir of screams from stygian shades wracks the surrounding area with a cacophony of otherworldly screams.
The voices of his nimbus take on malevolent tones and threatening half heard words, sounds of snapping, breaking, nails on chalk board and other haunting noises accompany the stage whispers.
The atmosphere becomes heavy with restful quiet audible by the sudden suppression of other noise, gentle sighs and peaceful whispers, the soft babbling of souls at rest, of intimate connections and peaceful acceptance.
Awakening
Less then forty eight hours had passed since he arrived in the river city, that all it took to die. A river cruise gone wrong, an Englishman over the edge and a swift current to drown in. But death was not what he expected. Wrapped in quiet calm. Passing through the dark towards something those had been comforting, familiar in cultural sense. The realm of Stygia however was not.
In effect washing up in the grey haze in a realm where all things were mutable, gold and marble, and wood and stone all mashed into shapes and forms beyond imagination and utterly familiar. The shades howling and screaming and calm. But what held his attention most was the Ziggurat. Each step and block made of something new and other, behold the tower of lead coin. Mutable, changing as its realm does he would go on to learn the reports varying. That this tower alone has a more storied set of experiences. But his was to climb insurmountable stairs each, composed of something new and different many materials unknown to him. Each should be beyond his ability yet is managed, each becomes part of him in an intrinsic way. Time later he reaches what appears to be the top. The coin of lead hovering before and above him. The final task his name like many other scratched into the endless matter of the tower itself. Some signed a book, the traditional method, some signed the walls or in the air the tower of the lead coin itself seeming to determine the method. His. By hand.
Returning to his senses, back to the fallen world now able to perceive the weight of death heavy upon the souls of people around, the way things and people and place connected, the exact composition and breakdown of objects. He awoke to the truth of the world. And within days had been picked up by an apostate and guided in the ways of truth.
Background
Arriving and Awakening in Sacramento six years prior to his arrival the Moros was picked up by a non afflicted apostate going by the shadow name of Scripture. She taught him a lot but one of the first lessons.. Keep your head down and don't get caught up in the endless back forth of the various factions at play. It is from this lesson that he never kept spells active for long until he was able to cloak them. Consequently he is utterly ignorant of the events of the city up unto his joining of the Consilium in July of 2023. Some of these events have been hinted at or teased to him.
Scripture was a stone scribe focused on the great work of restoring lost names. Believing it was possible to eventually restore the names the mages of Atlantis and from them learn. She gifted Chambers his shadow name due to his nimbus and more so gifted him the knowledge and after a few years the first attainment in the process of refining his soul.
He agrees who heartedly with her mission but not her methods. Scripture holds the pentacle and the seers in equal contempt, the servants of the abyss are even worse naturally. She dedicates herself to her mission who heartedly. Chambers see both opportunity for the names to be used to help restore Atlantis in many small ways, not least stop the abyss or seers from achieving total victory, and the need for wider cooperation to further the goal. Scripture calls him naïve and to keep his head down.
Four years after his awakening his university course sent his cohort on two years of traveling to other cultures to experience the philosophy they studied first hand. Six months in four locations. It was on this trip he would first encounter mage of the diamond and eventually pentacle orders. His presence noted by Guardians of the veil in Egypt, he was monitored interrogated rather brutally after losing a duel arcane but deemed not to be working for some nefarious master. It was here he was eventually recruited to the Mysterium. He studies of order ideology and principle continued in England and India where he had the various gaps in knowledge of mage society filled in and rounded out. During this time Scripture became aware of his choice has done her best to sever ties. Masking their connection and not making contact since his return. But their souls are connected so hiding is easier said then done should the other decide it is time to meet.
Returning to Sacramento to finish out his mundane studies in July 2023 he joined up with the Consilium, secured a sanctum to work from and was wildly unprepared for what the city had in store.
Life in the river city
Finding his feet and taking stock
The river city Consilium was not what he had expected. His arrival brining the number up to four. No structure. No leadership. No officials. A glorious meeting location to be sure, something rather sullied to find the order wing of the Mysterium with lock taken off the door and utterly emptied. His eeliest endeavour made the space secure and useable again.
The first six months of time in the city were spent getting used to the society, grabbing bits of interesting history and getting to know the handful of fellow mages who called it home.
Meeting on note included a one to one sit down with Philip Crosen as the two hit it off on the wrong foot and after a series of encounters with growing tensions decided to try and see past their differences and talk it out, which they managed set the stage for the two to develop a loose friendship.
The first mage he invited to his Sanctum October a mage who had returned to the city after himself. They hit it off well in the informal setting and somehow settled on plans to try and revitalise the Consilium, a monumental undertaking he had not considered before they had this talk. he has since wondered if he was manipulated, albeit with the best of intentions, into the course of action.
The idea weighing heavy on his mind he Winter was invited next the mage he knew least of. This meeting proved to be beyond insightful learning winter was both a guardian and an Obrimos was only the beginning Chambers was also made aware of the deal struck by powers beyond his or the guardians preview that brought a ceasefire with the seers in Sacramento. Looking to balance the scales of the great secret Chambers told Winter of his ultimate goal to reform sympathy with the ghosts of Atlantis and shared with the Guardian his momentary name. Doubling as a safe guard of in a fashion in case the planned revival caused the Moros to walk from the path of wisdom.
The great work begins
January 2024 saw the first official Consilium meeting of the five mages. Small headway was made ideas introduced as much testing the waters as anything but it was deemed a successfully first step. After this October disappeared without a trace and he was left alone for a time in his efforts and plans. He still wonders what happened to the enchanter.
The following six to seven months saw mages new and returning flock to the city tripling their numbers. A combination of personal business concluding and the orders sending mages to bolster the desperately lacking resources of the river city Consilium. the advances in this time included getting the process of acknowledgement formalised to expedite it so mages no longer took several months to get through the process. He began minuting the notes of official meeting in Supernal Script so mages could be kept up to date on the political motions and decisions of the Consilium. Galling a little at the request that teach order wing have its own copy of the notes but making the willing sacrifice to provide the source of sympathy regards. A council was reformed with each path being represented to help fast track ideas and voices regarding official matters and provide some basis to enforce the Lex.
The greatest work to date however involved series commitment on his part. Thanks to the training provided by Aurora He was able to pass the Factotum exam and with this achievement begin writing a new charter for the Consilium to make it official once. A daunting and slow process but a very necessary one.
Councillor of the path of Doom
In September of 2024 Corn and Witch were invited to the first path meeting of the Moros. Here both Corn and Chambers made a bid for the position of councillor. Corn was quickly swayed by the arguments of the host and Chambers took the position appointing Witch as his provost. The Moros collectively decided they need a place to handle their business as a path rather then rely on mages opening their personal sanctums for the meetings.
The Lex Magica and why it matters
And now having meet with Aurora on a handle for occasions to plan out parts of the proposed charter Chambers has offered to meet and discuss the plans and propositions with any mage who so wishes to, under the understanding that not every idea and suggestion will make the final draft and a degree of maturity is needed. Their ancient laws are guides to wisdom and need to be respected. these separate the pentacle from the seers, from the left handed and from the Scelesti. They should not be discarded or handled lightly.

Hooks
- Official documentation: Having recently studied for and passed the Factotum exam, Chambers is in the process of constructing a charter to serve the needs of the river city Consilium and actually make them official. He has welcomed anyway to meet and talk over the process, providing they accept not every idea will make it into the final article and we need to handle the conversations maturely.
- Pancryptia investigations: Only members of the Mysterium could begin to guess at his true motive but where possible Chambers does make the effort to walk among the city and observe the various events and festivals and gatherings in his hunt for the supernatural and supernal truth to unravel. You don't need to be a member of the Mysterium to meet up with him and talk philosophy in variety of locations of course. He does seem however to be looking for something specific.
- Importance of infrastructure: Chambers has been investing in infrastructure for the mages of the city to be better supported and prepared. He is always willing to both listen to and make his own suggestions about what are sound investments, following through of course.
- Traditionalist: Chambers sits pretty centrally as far as the traditions of his order goes. He values his word, tries not lie. Practices right exchange where he can and pays his debts of guanxi. At the moment he seems to be destined for a role as an archivist even if he privately laments that, he has little time to give a full investigation the respect it deserves. But this does mean he is willing to lend a support role where he can.
- Good time management: The man is highly efficient with his actions, something he attributes to good order, taking things step by step and not rushing. By taking the time to understand, he is fast without being hasty. Finding this means he gets tasks quickly even without the use of magic he is often available and willing to lend support to lengthy projects.
- A dying practice: The stone scribe practices the craft of masonry. Surprising no one. He uses his job making gravestones to justify investigations into victims of tragedy and hanging around graveyards. As his skill increases he becomes ever more fascinated with the idea of materials changing into objects. Well aware of the dangers it represents, he is more willing then most to work on joint crafting projects.
