In truth, any Mage who fills the prerequisites and passes the exam may claim the title 'Factotum.' A Factotum is an Awakened who knows the ins and outs of the local Lex Magica and is available to prosecute or defend violations of the Lex Magica to the Consilium. The pre-requisites are stringent and the exam may take many forms. In the Silver Ladder, becoming a Factotum is a rite of passage and most, if not all, are expected to pass the exam.
