From Edge of Darkness Wiki

Different tasks demand different times to accomplish them. It takes longer to rebuild a car engine than it does to stab someone with a knife. Storytelling has three types of actions: Instant, Extended, Dodge and Reflexive.

An Instant Action is immediate and takes a single dice roll and a single Turn (3 seconds)
