Court 1404 Whos Your Priscus

Court also doubles as an unveiling of Avalon's re-branding as Nox Populi. Large banners hang from the ceiling to hang behind five of the six seating sections -- each bearing the crest of one of the five Clans^[1]. This was an official Court announced by Prince Asa Clarke shortly after his return to taking an active role in the Domain matters.

Happenings

General Court Area

Shortly after the beginning of the event Dog summonned the Reeve to deal with an altercation^[2]. A fresh Ventrue by the name of Roderick Pearson brought a wooden sheath of a blade with him into Elysium, claiming that to be a memnto of his late Sire. Priscus Galloway tried to intervere on Roderick's behalf but was brusquely shut down for overstepping his authority After some time that it took the Reeve and the Ranger to explain the exact nature of the problem to him, Roderick surrendered the sheath to Dillon Connery for safe-keeping until the end of Court and was ordered to apologize to Seneschal Villiers. Accepting responsibility for his Family, Priscus Galloway promised to join in the apology.

Later the Court saw few disturbances. Regent Brady arrived without a Mask, irritated with her presence not being felt in the Domain. She joined Prince Clarke in conversation. Later, new Regents were announced by Prince Clarke: Dillon Connery for Valencia for his years in the service of the Domain and Michael Redfill - Florin for winning the Regency contest. The private discussions continued afterwards and the Court slowly ended.

"Not sure if you're aware of this, but the original bayonets for our muskets in the Union Army weren't even sharpened. In fact, they weren't even blades; just a sort of long, fluted scoop." - Dillon Connery

Gangrel Banner^[3]

For the Gangrel corner the night began with Dog describing the joy of electronic cigarettes to Roxie Hart after calling for Dillon's attention and ditching the following talk with Roderick Pearson. They were shortly joined by the other long-standing members of the Domain: Dillon Connery, Emma French and Michael Redfill. After some friendly banter involving talking about sex, smoking and fighting (and Dog offering all interested his services in the first department) they spent a bit of time in self-gratification and were joined by a new arrival - a Carthian named James Bolton. After all, Gangrel were the only ones tonight with a Priscus who lated more than one Court. At about that point Michael left to announce his victory in the Regency Contest to the Seneschal and Dillon offered Emma the position of Deputy Reeve. After Michael's returning Asa Clarke called Emma away to present her with access to the Rack as an apology for forgetting about her Exile to the Barrens. Then he announced the new Regency positions which were both taken by Gangrel (Dillon Connery in Valencia and Michael Redfill in Florin). The night ended with talking of organizing a hunt in the near future for some quality Family time.

"Look at the pretty Savages, tonight. We could be giving the Daeva a run for their money. Which one do I want to sit by?" - Dillon Connery

"Darlin', I figger you lot have the brains and beauty covered -- don't fret about the rest. Iffin' you find yerself needin' some reassurin', just hitch up that skirt and bend your pretty ass over and ol' Dog'll take care of puttin' the spunk in Clan Gangrel." - Dog

Ventrue Banner^[4]

For the Ventrue the evening started with Roderick Pearson fuming over the way August Galloway treated his Sire's memento earlier and Hildegarde Bingen being lost in her own thoughts. They were shortly joined by their Priscus who opted to ignore the conflict with Roderick switching to discussing the Prince's return to taking an active part in the Domain's affairs. This turned slightly awkward when Asa walked in at right that moment when Hildegarde was explaining just how his return could be a disruption for the Kindred. Asa shifted the discussion to the previous altercation with Mr. Pearson and unwittingly launched him and August Galloway into an extremely wordy make-up session. In the end he ordered the men to make a written apology to Seneschal and Keeper Villiers to spare her the pain of listening to a verbal one herself.

"No one had seen him for a year. Or more. A calm... equilibrium... had been reached. I think that has been... disturbed... now." - Hildegarde Bingen

"Another Kindred in that position might have brought the hammer down, to teach you manners. Mr. Pearson is lucky he did not. Your enthusiasm is commendable -- but a better course of action would have been to let the Reeve render justice and if necessary, then speak in an attempt mitigate the punishment. In this way, you have challenged neither his authority or integrity, but are petitioning for leniency." - Asa Clarke

Nosferatu Banner^[5]

The evening started with the Priscus of Haunts, Jennifer Hazelton, being the first to take a seat below the Banner of her Family. She was quickly joined by Alexander Wiechert, Arnold Culler and Troy McPherson. After some introductions, small talk and noting the arrival of Dirge, Arnold Culler spent some time giving Neonate Haunts advice about being more proactive about their Danse. The Banner was soon joined by Dirge and Gunnar (who was promptly sent to the Daeva corner). Dirge proceeded by speaking to Culler about her Covenant affairs at the Farm and her intention to return their instead of going to the Necropolis. Shortly after the Prince's announcement the Haunts started to leave as the Court drew to a close.

"Danse, or sit and watch others Danse -- but do not be surprised if you find yourself Eclipsed by those who choose the former over the latter." - Arnold Culler

Mekhet Banner^[6]

For the Shadows the night started with Teodor Raluca, Aileen McFarlane and Daniel Whitfield discussing other members of the Domain. Regent Brady's loud and Unmasked entrance disturbed that conversation, making it drift towards her. Shortly after, Priscus Raluca had to leave after receiving a call. This was ill-timed, however, and because of not providing either reason or apology, he was stripped of his Acknowledgement by the Prince. As Teodor departed, Regent Brady joined their table, talking about the new Regents and reminding the Mekhet of their Feeding Rights in the Citrus Heights. The last to arrive was Seneschal Villiers who seemed to delay joining her Family as long as was possible. Just as the evening was about to draw to an end, Erika made a reference to the Dragons holding custody of the Slumbering Elder but no one reacted as the Court dispersed.

"I hope you do find it easy to share Domain-sensitive tasks and information with those outside your own private social group. There are a few among us who are finding it frightfully difficult." - Erika Brady

James Bolton and Hildegarde^[7]

This was a simple conversation where a recently arrived Gangrel by the name of James Bolton got acquainted with an established Ventrue resident - Hildegarde Bingen. They talked about the general feeling the Court gave them and later agreed to take a walk together some time for a less stifled experience. Not surprising, considering the stress such quantity of Beasts put on the Kindred.

"Eh... Yes. Of course. It has been a long time since I went for a night time stroll." - Hildegarde Bingen

Anabella, Asa, Martha and Velma^[8]

This conversation started with Asa informing Herald Villiers of Anabella Prieto losing her Acknowledgement due to being discourteous to him at Reverence. They were shortly joined by the offendant herself together with her Priscus. Anabella proceeded to apologize by making an earth bow - basically prostrating herself on the ground, while the Prince suggested that Priscus Star Acknowledge her under her personal recognizance which the Priscus accepted making Ana a member of the Domain of Sacramento until the next formal Court. They were later approached by Liara Shepard who wanted to talk to the Prince but her timing and wording couldn't have been more ill-advised, almost mirroring the words Anabella spoke at The Lily, so Asa brushed her off and left the conversation together with Velma.

Anabella, Liara and Martha^[9]

This particular conversation started with Herald Villiers talking to the two disenfranchised Daeva: Anabella Prieto who failed to recognize the Prince at the Lilly and Liara Shepard whose approaching the Prince hasn't been overly subtle (which got her only a sideways glance unlike Anabella who needed to apologize). The following events overwhelmed the Herald as, in short succession, Erika Brady walked in brandishing her Beast, Michael Redfill requested that his victory in the Regency contest be acknowledged and Dirge showed up together with a companion who decided to withhold his name for the time being. After being praised for his victory, Michael decided to leave in order to stop swarming Martha and the Daeva were called away by Velma, their Priscus, on the Prince's orders. The Kindred then dispersed, everyone walking towards their banners while Martha made her way over to the Prince.

"Although... I can't help but think His Grace would rather not speak with me." She was admittingly a little disappointed that Asa had chosen to dismiss her while barely acknowledging her respectful greeting. "Did I do something wrong and offend him? Was I supposed to bow rather than curtsy?" - Liara Shepard

"I hereby present this proof, that I, Michael Redfill, have fairly won His Majesty's contest for the Regency of Florin with the help of the team I assembled." - Michael Redfill

"I believe we have taken too much of the Grand Wyrm’s precious time, maybe we reconvene with her at a later date… tonight is official court and there are other members of the domain who might be interested in sharing her company or offer their help with domain matters" - Velma

Asa, Erika and Velma^[10]

This conversation happened shortly after Erika arrived at the Court without the Mask of Tranquility. Such behaviour was completely out of character and her desire to terrify most of the room made the Prince curious. The small talk hovered around Velma's appointment as Priscus before shifting to Domain matters. Erika expressed her displeasure with the Ordo holding a potentially dangerous Torpored Elder without sharing what they learn with the Domain as a whole. The Prince remarked that it was hardly a secret since both he and Erika knew of it, and suggested that she approach Grand Wyrm Villiers to be granted access. He then asked Velma to ask the young Daeva Blood to leave Martha in peace and that concluded the conversation as both the Daeva Priscus and the Regent of Citrus Heights left.

"I take it you're not here to hold up a wall..." - Asa Clarke

"Breaking them down, this time, perhaps. If you're still offering your assistance." - Erika Brady

Asa and Emma^[11]

During the time of his inactivity, the Prince completely forgot about Emma having been exiled into the Barrens for brandishing Claws^[12] against Velma at Elysium. Finally having remembered that, the Prince decided to compensate her with six month-long access to the Rack.

"I realized that you were never released from your banishment to the Barrens. The length of your punishment was never my intent, but an oversight. I apologize for that. Your banishment is no more, and I would like to extend an invitation to enjoy the Rack for the next six months as a more tangible apology than words." - Asa Clarke

Troy McPherson and Arnold Culler^[13]

This conversation happened shortly after the Prince asked Arnold to keep an eye on the situation with Roderick Pearson as it developed. The younger Haunt decided to take advantage of this opportunity to speak with the Master of Necropolis. Troy asked Culler for permission to visit sometimes and was asked to do some reconnaissance work in the wilderness if he wanted to earn the privilege. They agreed to talk more on the topic later.

"Lord Culler, I was hoping you might permit me to visit the necropolis at some point." - Troy McPherson

"I would be delighted to have you visit, and give you a tour... if I had any interest in visiting and touring your neighbourhood in exchange. I don't. So do you come to me with an empty bowl and hopeful smile like Oliver Twist, or with something of value like The Artful Dodger?" - Arnold Culler

Michael Redfill and Dillon Connery^[14]

This was a conversation at the start of the evening cut short by Dog calling the Reeve's attention to Roderick bringing a wooden tanto sheath into Elysium.

"Well, there's a surprise. Come on, Ranger. Let's go see what this is all about." - Dillon Connery
