Mask

Nondescript features, narrow build, uh, mid 20s to late 30s? Maybe? Leo's another face in the crowd, with skin that's tanned in such a way that he could credibly claim to belong to a range of heritages. The most striking thing about Leopold's mask is the symmetry. His features and build could be a bisected photograph, mirrored.

Mien

It's hard to know where the Mask ends with Leopold Glass. When he relaxes, his skin starts to creep, always at a glacial pace. At times, his voice is a shrill, faint echo. When he moves, speaks or affects facial expressions, no movement from muscles or tendons is visible beneath the waxing skin. His face is 'changeable', taking on different angles and shades, sometimes becoming utterly blank. Lately, parts of Leopold's facial features have become strangely static for long periods of times, as though he's trying harder to keep his features. If questioned, he'll deny it, but Leopold is trying to build himself a face of his very own.

Mantle

Leopold's Mantle brings with it the illusion of condensation, accompanied by the faint creaking of things made brittle by his season.

History

The Durance

The kid Leo used to be was a bland, unassuming high-schooler getting blazed on his own when the fat man with burnt hands shoved him through a funhouse mirror which didn't seem like it had any business inside the old refrigerator his parents kept in the garage.

Falling through the refrigerator mirror led to a laughing sun setting forever over pools of black water and a place ruled by a woman thing. It was more like a great big leech wearing a woman, actually. This wet pulpy sac with teeth with someone's soft white skin draped over it and a cold human face over its barbed maw. It left other people to stew in the dark, glimmering pools.

The thing seemed to want to understand its prisoners on its own distant terms and moulded their identities into its own shallow grasp of the human condition. The Keeper would regurgitate something like a corrosive patchwork of personas into Leopold, burning his insides and making them brittle. The domain of the skin-masked leech reacted to these changes, turning from a wet abyss into a disaster of a garden. By this time, the kid's identity had drained away. He wasn't whole anymore, so he hid and slipped through the cracks until the cracks were no longer a part of the Leech Keeper's garden and winked at Leopold

The kid found himself alone in the hedge, free by virtue of being forgotten by the mad metaphysics which held the Keeper's domain together. After a lot of aimless walking he fell through a refrigerator, dimly aware that this had happened before. He emerged from the same refrigerator that fat stranger had shoved him through, in its new location atop a landfill. It took a while to pick up the pieces. In truth, most of the pieces are lost scattered to the four corners, but his first step was picking a new name.

Post-Durance

He's back on his feet now. He hooked up with the Winter court. He got himself a new identity, on paper at least. He found an apartment and a job following wealthy, married men to motels for a seedy divorce lawyer. He takes on jobs which involve watching people because he's trying to piece togeter a new identity for himself and a new face for himself. He's thought about leaving Sacramento, but he's received anonymous information that his fetch attends college in the city. He's not sure if he should confront the fetch or let go of the old life. After all, he's a completely different person now. Or at least he will be.

He doesn't have a whole lot to do with the Freehold currently, preferring to keep a low profile. Some of these people are freaks. What chance does a shallow collection of reflections stand around all that drama?
