History

Eric The Ancient was well known in the area now known as Sacramento centuries before the city was formed. He stalked the villages in the area, feeding and killing as he saw fit. He had a small band of followers during this time that served and protected him both at night and during the daylight hours.

It was not long before the stories of the night terrors of the area were known throughout most of the state. Many kindred came flocking to the area out of curiosity and greed. Some of them wished the make something substantial of the towns and villages, others just wished to continue the reign of terror on the helpless mortals. For decades Bethem rulked the area claming it as his domain.

When another elder attempted to pass through his territory, Bethem assumed it was an attack on his position. He sent out many of his followers to kill or remove the other elder kindred but none of them returned with news of triumph or failure. The female elder finally came to visit the would-be Prince and confronted him on the continued attacks. The fight that ensued was long and terrible, but ended with Bethem staked and entombed deep within the earth beneath the heart of Sacramento.

Reawakening

Bethem awoke in 2009 to an alien world and a very changed kindred society. His first priority was to replenish his resources and sate his hunger. He then sought out the eldest vampires of the city and proceeded to drain them dry, diablerizing them one by one.

His goal was to reclaim his territory and begin his line anew, after decimating the current kindred population. He was stopped cold in his tracks by the Lost Nights, and was captured by Horizon, those responsible. Later, O-Yama tricked Horizon into destroying the Torpid Ancient.
