A meeting of the Gangrel called by Konstantin Malevich[1]
- "Some of you know each other, but it looks like most do not know the others. I recognize some, but know none of you well. Some I do not know at all. I am Konstantin, Priscus of Clan Gangrel. This position is mine as one of very few of Clan Gangrel to survive the Lost Nights, and because I am of stronger blood than the others. If I keep position, I do so by the strength of my blood and my body. If any wish to make a challenge, we will discuss that later." - Konstantin Malevich

- "I am Konstantin. Alive, I was a soldier in the army of Pietr the Great. As vampyr, I have been mostly warrior or nomad. I have traveled much in the world, many places, learned many strange things. I have worked for covenants over my years, but only recently joined one. I am of the Invictus, and Deputy Reeve. I fight good with many weapons, and with my bare hands, and the claws. - After introductions Konstantin gives those present the opportunity to challenge him for the position of Priscus.[3]
- "Does any challenge me as leader of the pack, of our clan?" - Konstantin Malevich
- "We are not Lords or Shadows or Succubi. We are motherfucking Savages. Are you going to tell a wolf that it can only use it's claws and not it's teeth? Then you are going to be really surprised when it bites out your throat old man." She drops the cancer stick at her feet and crushes it with her foot. "Anything goes. Winner is the last one standing. - "But you are wrong about how this will be done. Fighting an enemy has no rules, can have no rules, but challenges for leadership must have rules. I have seen what happens when they do not, long before I became Invictus. Assassination. Back-stabbing. Poison. Hiring witches to cast curses. All becomes sneaking and lies, like a court of bickering Succubi and hidden Shadows and conniving Lords. We are not court, we are clan, and we cannot afford that. We must be strong and work together to fight deadly enemy. Cleverness and tricks have their place, and may make one a general but our clan leader will be chosen by strength of body and of arms. And by tradition, the challenged chooses how they will fight. If you do not like that, change it if you win," he snarls. - "I was made acting Priscus after old Priscus died in the Lost Nights. I did not seek the position. The Prince appointed me. But we will decide how we go forward. It is good you made challenge." - Konstantin Malevich
- "Then there is no tradition. The Clan has no current real Priscus, only someone appointed by the Prince." - Roxie Hart

- "You should have more respect for tradition, and the judgment of the Prince," Konstantin says. "And you will learn why tricks are not the way to decide on leader. Most nomads learn, is dangerous to rely on tricks. There are always better tricks." Conner shifts into a swarm of Scorpions. - Konstantin Malevich

- "You made good choice. I have other tricks as well. But if you challenge me again, the rules will be followed. Are there other challenges?" - Konstantin Malevich
- "You and Aesop know some nice stuff but I would see you fight. Powers of the Blood limited to strength, speed, toughness and healing; a clash of strength and skill. Do you accept?" - Headstrong
- "I believe you to be a warrior who has a sense of honor and who wishes to show her full strength. We will fight, with those limited tricks of the blood allowed, and none other." - Konstantin Malevich
- After a resounding battle of Spear and Sword Konstantin again comes out victorious.[8]
