First Impression

Emma has long black hair, usually pulled back away from her face. She has haunting eyes which shift colors depending on her mood...the more passionate or enraged Emma gets the greener her eyes become, when she is more at peace they are more like a soothing ocean. She is 5'6" with an athletic build. When someone is near her they may catch a whiff of a spring meadow; fresh grass, soft floral, sunshine, and dewy earthy smells. Emma seems very confident and business-like but tends to be a bit slow at opening up when in social conversations.

About Me

Hi, I’m 25 years old and newly returning to Sacramento. The first time I was here I worked for the University as the lead archeologist for the night shift on the dig at the courthouse. Then I worked at Cedar Fields funeral home as a manager. Two years ago I was a Deputy and Gangrel Whip. Most recently I was on the other side of the US working in Maine teaching and working on a dig. Now that I am back in Sacramento I plan to reacquaint myself with the domain and go from there.

I am 5’6”, black hair, hazel eyes that shift from bluish to green depending on my mood, and pale skin. I frequently have my hair up in a pony-tail or bun to keep it out of my face while I work. My hobbies are martial arts, karaoke, dancing, and museums. I love to go off roading with mud flinging everywhere, but I also love to dress pretty and girly. I have an air of confidence about me, but not cocky. I love shoes, especially boots. I have learned to bury and control my temper, but if that fuse gets lit...watch out!

In the fall of 1849 I left for California with my husband,Daniel, and daughter, Mildred. We had decided to head west so that Daniel could start his own transcontinental newspaper service and report about the gold rush. Shortly after starting off on our trip west, I found out I was pregnant. Minor incidents happen but progress remained forward. Eight months into the trip I was very pregnant and uncomfortable. One night, I was awakened by a noise from outside the wagon next to us. I peeked out the back of the wagon and saw a tall pale stranger leave the neighbor's wagon. He spotted me and waved, then disappeared into the night. Thinking I was imagining things I went back to bed. The next day all the neighbors were fine but slightly tired. The heat of the day made travel slow. The next night, unable to sleep, I sat on the back of my wagon watching the night sky. The man from the night before appeared from behind another wagon. I was not afraid of this man, out here we were told we needed to watch for Indians and highway men, he looked like neither. He sat down beside me and introduced himself as James Chester. We spoke for hours about my life and dreams. It felt good to talk to someone new. After over eight months of the same group I was ready for new faces. When I started to question him about his past he told me I looked tired and should go to sleep. I yawned and agreed. “When will I see you again?” “Soon, I promise.” I saw him lick his lips quickly in a hungry manner. Then sleepiness overcame me and I fell asleep on the back of the wagon. When I awoke I found myself in bed next to my husband. Perhaps it was all a dream. The day was especially hot making everyone sleepy and slow. Suddenly we were under attack. When all was said and done, the only people who remained alive were four older women and me, barley. I was fading fast and had gone into labor. The women helped me deliver a baby boy. I named him Daniel Chester French, Daniel French for my husband and Chester for the man in my dreams. I became very weak and couldn’t travel. The older women decided to head back to a trapper camp to get help. The camp was a week back towards home. I begged them to take baby Daniel. They left me in the shade of a tree near a stream with some water and tack to keep me fed. They promised to send help. I drifted in and out of consciousness. That night James Chester showed up. He washed me up and assessed the damage. I couldn’t keep my eyes open and had trouble swallowing water. “My baby,” I moaned. “I have sent some friends to protect him,” he said. I moaned again and went into a coma. My body just couldn’t hold on.

When I awoke again I was in a dark room with clean clothes on and an incredible thirst. James was there, I could smell him. In the days after that first awakening I learned so much about my new abilities and new family. Over time the sadness over losing my once alive family mellowed to a dull ache. Every so often I would hear some news about my baby boy as he grew into a renowned sculptor. When he died in 1931, I attended his funeral along with James. After his death James and I continued our life of travel. We would usually be brother and sister, other times we would act like a couple. We had a great affection for each other and enjoyed many of the same things. Recently I had to have an accident and die. This meant a new life for me. I decided to move to California, after all I never made it there for the gold rush.

Cognitive Archaeology Information

There are two parts to Cognitive Archaeology; the first examines the origins and evolution of modern human cognition, asking questions such as when did people begin to think as we do and where might cognitive capacities have emerged in our primate ancestors. The second explores the extent to which human thought influenced the perceptions of the world around them as well as how they chose to interact with it, developing cultures and societies as a result. Emma is interested the perceptions the human thought, in particular social interactions. Emma studies items and symbols created by cultures of the past. From these items she works on developing the cultural norms and then tries to narrow it down to individual thoughts and perceptions.
