* Public Status which is not recognizable (i.e. foreign languages) by the entire Domain will be ignored/not factored in to the tally.  If people can't understand what's being said, then an opinion can't be swayed.

Initiating Status Posts

Anyone can start Status threads. Please do not start empty Status posts. Every Status thread should begin with an opinion. To use the pretty picture format, just drop the code in (full instructions are here): [status=5]Asa_Clarke[/status]

What do the Numbers Mean?

A lot of people don't participate in Status posts because they're unsure if they're "doing it right." It took me a while to figure out how the numbers correlate, and it was also suggested that I share my 'cheat sheet'. These comments/ratings aren't just political, but social as well. Let's say Joe is third level Bloodbound to Jane. Jane could get 5's from Joe, even if she's a street thief who's on the verge of being run out of the city.

5 - You think as highly of this person as the Prince, or they are that figure, or should be.
4 - This person should have a major say in affairs, or is already in the upper echelon/elite.
3 - This person does, or should, hold a considerable position or is well respected. Perhaps a Sheriff or Priscus.
2 - This person is a 'rising star', perhaps a Whip or Deputy.
1 - This person, simply is. A good citizen, but nothing exceptional.
0 - Lynch mob.

If a person does not hold a position, they should not rise above 1 unless they are just the unquestioned awesomeness of society, and simply haven't gotten a position yet, or have declined one. Giving out higher Status than is appropriate could reflect poorly on you. Note that it doesn't matter what words are used, the number is what is used to determine the effect of the words.

Public versus Private

Public Status is what you would say to a stranger or in public (Court). Private Status is what you would say to a confidant in private. Since it is calculated into the Status formula, it's impossible for a personal thought to propagate and affect the standing of anyone. Thus, it must be something a character says to another character. This can be restricted (who a character might confide in) or simply what one might say in a non formal setting between acquaintances. However, it *should* be something said to someone else rather than internal thoughts.

Finishing Status

Whoever starts Status should tally it.

Reflecting Status and Changes

If your character's Status has changed, please update your wiki page and signature/minisheet/etc! These are YOUR responsibility to keep current. If they're not up-to-date, another player/character is free to 'use' whatever is displayed. Remember that after running thru Status, you can note what number you gave them on your character's wiki page. this populates the the little status tables on the Quotes page. It's not mandatory, but it sure works a lot better if everyone participates :D

Note: It displays on the Quotes page, but you enter the names on your character's main page. Just hit Edit, you'll see the space to do it :)
