Born in late fifties in Seattle, a boy once known as Andrew is now an aged man. And up until his 49th Birthday, it was a good life, even though Andrew would probably see his childhood, youth and career (if it may indeed by called that) more as an age of strife. He was good at school. He was good at high-school. He was also good at college and finished with a Master of Arts in Journalism. But he was never really excellent in anything. And since he achieved everything on his own, he came into employment without knowing the right people. High profile jobs eluded him, no matter how hard he tried. So he worked until the age of 40 as a writer for local newspapers and magazines. When the financial crisis hit, he was cut from the payroll and went freelance. Two years later, he lost both of his parents to lung cancer as a consequence to Radon poisoning when his dad tried to expand the basement. | Born in late fifties in Seattle, a boy once known as Andrew is now an aged man. The Journalist
The Private Investigator
Inheriting only small amounts of money, he moved to Portland, working now two jobs: One as his regular field of journalist and the second as private investigator. After learning a few tricks and tools of the trade, he had small successes, returning lost items of values to families and doing surveillance on low level criminals aiding in their convictions. He even met a girl. For six years, everything was good and finally on track to become truly excellent. Fate was not kind. Working six months on a case of a child kidnapping with possible murder, he stepped too hard on someones toes. While investigating on a psychiatrist named Jim Denton, he got intimate details into what appeared to be a group of pedophiles rooted deep within the medical community. Andrew led the police in, which secured a load of pornographic material. The perpetrators were convicted, an obnoxiously high amount of bail was paid ten minutes after the verdict and they all kept their licenses. Alexis, very unhappy with the outcome, wanted to push further into the matter. Two days later, his girlfriend was kidnapped. Trying to bargain for her release, two things went wrong: He was shot.
Twice.
And bleeding in the mud, he awakened...
The Mage
Bishop, the man who once was a boy named Andrew, does not talk about his awakening. When pushed, he says something about wandering along a river in Stygia, guided by the ghosts of dead children leading him to the Watchtower of the Leaden Coin. When he came to, he had spent four weeks in a coma and the first thing they told him, was that his girl was found face down in the Columbia river. He got even with the murderer. Bishop, now 49 and a broken man, found Jim Denton as part of a private lodge backed by powerful pharmaceutical companies. With some help from another mage named Piper, he peeled the lodge apart. Jim Denton was found in the Columbia river swimming face down...without his tongue, eyes and ears!
The Guardian
The mage Piper introduced Bishop to the Guardians of the Veil and together they took down the medical lodge which was a front for three Scelesti. Not much is known about these events and Bishop remains silent about them. He moved to Sacramento soon after, where he started to rebuild a small network of relationships and engage in freelance journalism once more.
Personality
Bishop carries an air of professionalism tempered with his age. He remembers names, places and small details with ease and tries to maintain contact even if the jobs is concluded. After all, every satisfied customer is a man willing to talk a little more sometimes. He keeps himself straight, standing 1,85 m tall. At times, he hunches down a little, as if something hurts him in his gut. When pushed or provoked, which does take its time though, he becomes very polite and uses mannered phrases with an icy edge. And he does not forget any slight. He smiles, but there is seldom any warmth in his eyes, one blue, the other jade green.
His hands have fingers, that have flattened tips and a little hard skin, indicating that Bishop writes a lot with computers. In fact, he is also playing piano from time to time, which adds towards the shape of his fingertips. He prefers classical music from the baroque era.
At times and in order to keep his weight a little more constant or preferably drop a few kilos, Bishop also indulges in traditional Tae-kwon Do from time to time, but he is nowhere near the level in this discipline that would compare to his piano plays. It is a work out and supposed to help him focus - which it would, if he could do it more regularly.
Nimbus
When casting vulgar magic, things start to loose colour until they appear monochrome as black or white with very little shades of grey in between. Also, his voice - normally full and trained quite well - starts to loose "channels" until it sounds like someone is speaking through a vocoder.
Present Projects
While furthering his career at the Sacramanto Bee, Bishop has taken a second job as Hostel Hi's manager, running the show for the Guardians of the Veil. He is currently a member of the Unbound Smoke and investigating into the spread of the drug GLO in Sacramento. Rumors persist, that he also is indulging into an urban myth called the Zero Protocol.
