The Sworn of Dracula were established by the Rites of the Dragon as the pillars of the Ordo Dracul. Though Dracula kept himself at the head of the organization he formed the Oaths to keep order within his society.

When Dracula vanished, the Sworn kept the Order in operation. Though their founder is still technically in command, the fact that he has not appeared at gatherings to issue orders in over a century leaves the leaders of the Sworn to command.

An Oath is for the span of a Requiem, it can never be released once it has been committed to, on pain of final death or worse.

Sworn of the Axe

Warriors and guardians of the Order, the Sworn of the Axe are the soldiers that help to keep all of the Order's members and secrets safe.

Benefits

According to the Rites, the Sworn of the Axe get first pick of loot and positions which they very much enjoy invoking. Anytime the Order takes new territory or property the Axe Sworn tend to get first claim. The other Sworn grudgingly accept this because when fire start burning the Axe has to put them out.

Duties

As soldiers the Sworn of the Axe do most of the fighting for the Order. In war time they direct the covenant and in peace they act as police for the members.

A Dragon in danger can call upon the Axe for assistance and they are bound by their Oath to protect them. The full extent of this varies from city to city but a Slave who messes with gang of Carthian punks and then goes skittering to the Axe isn't going to get the same response as an Adept that has a Circle blood witch in for her.

They still have to defend both, but if a specific Dragon seems to be taking advantage of their protection they can appeal to the Sworn of Dying Light to have said Dragon removed from protected status.

Becoming Sworn

To get the Oath of the Axe a Dragon has to risk final death for the Order and possess utmost martial ability. What specifically qualifies is up to local Axe Sworn. Some territories require the potential to actually be injured while others require only risking harm. Defending one Dragon may be enough to qualify as defending the covenant in some cities, not in others. Martial ability, though somewhat subjective, is a much simpler requirement to meet.

Sworn of Dying Light

The judge/scholars of the Order.

Benefits

Sworn of the Dying Light often manage to side step the Axe's first pick by being on the cutting edge of discovery. New knowledge is most often discovered by them and they reap the first rewards.

In those rare cases a Dragon is found guilty of subverting their soul to an outside force, a crime that carries the sentence of destruction by diablary it is one of the Dying Light who carries out this sentence.

Duties

The Dying Light act as judges for problems between Dragons.

Becoming Sworn

To gain an Oath with the Dying Light, a Dragon must discover something new to the Order. Given the extensive records the Order has gathered, the most likely way to manage this is to discover and claim a new Wyrms Nest.

Sworn of Mysteries

Law makers

Benefits

Control over local policy.

Duties

Governing the covenant as a whole, the Mysteries pass laws but are unable to exert power over any single member.

Becoming Sworn

One of the less complex, but not as simple, Oaths, Mysteries are gained by vote.
