The Adamantine Arrow respects two relationships: student and teacher, and commander and subordinate. Within Arrow cabals these associations are normally one and the same, but outside of them the latter is determined by the nature of an Arrow’s oaths, whether he’s liege or vassal. Teachers and students do not have official names, but go by the vernacular of mages’ common language.
Talon
A mage with no or little (one-dot) Status in the order, but who has been received into it, also called neophyte.
Banner Warden
The appointed defender of a mixed cabal or the second-most senior member of an Arrow cabal takes this title as the symbol of her group’s martial virtues.
First Talon
Famuli (singular famulus) of the Adamantine Arrow form the backbone of the order. Rising higher in Status than First Talon requires a great deal of dedication to or ambition for the order itself, and Arrows have other concerns splitting their attention — Sleeper relations, protecting the Consilium, their cabals, their pupils, their mentors and so on. An Arrow might comfortably remain within his duties as a First Talon his entire Awakened life, and suffer no stigma from his order because of it.
Thunderbolt Guardian
Preparation is the key to victory, so the order enshrines this principle in the rank of Thunderbolt Guardian. Thunderbolt Guardians are teachers and counselors, versed in several useful fields, and also personally apply their abilities to operations.
Magister
War leaders and chief tacticians are given the title of Magister or Adamant Sage.
