Cassandra Dawes

Pre-Embrace

Cassandra was born in Los Angels during the middle of the Depression. Her father, somehow, actually made money in the events following the stock market Crash - and this allowed Cassandra to be raised in opulence and ease. She lived a happy life: protected and insulated from the worst events of the Depression. The family wealth allowed her a good and sound private tutored education.

Cassandra was 19 when, at a party celebrating the release of a friends novel, she was spotted by a Hollywood mogul - one of the big producers of his day. Her looks rather than her talent attracting his eye.

His influence made her an overnight sensation. Her career blossomed. Six movies in four years!

Wealth and fame and adulation came easy.

With the pace and success of the movies, the Studio offered Cassandra a vacation. A fine time away in Seattle for her and her family. It was offered as a birthday present. Time to rest after completing her next movie.

The shooting ended in June. The vacation began in July. In time for Cassandra to watch the beautiful fireworks over the Sound. Happily sharing the moment with her mother and sister.

The vacation was coming to a close and a new script had to be learned. It was for an ambitious science fiction project. Cassie had a lot on her mind. Eager for an escape and distraction: Cassie listened to the recommendations the hotel staff - and took her Italian sports car out for a ride along the coast road.

A storm had threatened. But she was heedless of the danger - the storm seemed so far away.

Something terrible happened during that ride.

Had Buddy Holly not died the same day - photographs of the police fishing her wrecked car from the water would surely have made it to every front page.

Embrace

The Man's name was named Simon Schilling and he embraced her that very evening on the Beach. Draining her of her life before giving her a new one. Arranging a fitting story of the car crashing into the sound Returning to the Bed and Breakfast during the storm after dark and cutting her off from her Mortal Family. He helped her arrange to keep most of her finances and saw to her upbringing as a new creature. A Beautiful Daeva that would be his childe. What he often told her was one of his best and most lasting creations he was sure. He taught her much about what she had become but also employed the use of a Groom to handle her education in many of the basics of the Vampiric condition and life in the Danse.

She was under the tutelage and considered a Fledgeling for more than 2 decades before finally Simon threw a party to announce her full emergence into Vampiric Society and many that dealt with her looked forward from that point to see her develop as a Advocate and player. Many more felt once she got more standing and weight under her they could see her making the transition into quite the skilled Almoner. The biggest thought of all however was waiting to see just how much her Sire had rubbed off on her and what kind of affect she would have on things as she increasingly took part in the social intrigues and politics of the Court.

Being the polite and proper childe of a rather prominent Alder of the Invictus covenant gained her entry and status into the covenant with little question and it was hardly surprised when she soon earned a title of tribute to go with that heritage as well. Being named a Lady was a little surprise to the Invictus of the city since it was expected and they would have been more surprised and curious to hear that she had not earned the title.

Cassandra flourished well enough in the setting of Seattle under the watchful eye and unseen hand of her sire. But Simon wanted more for her and wanted her to be more prepared for events that could and would eventually come up in her life. He couldn't always be there and didn't want Cassandra expecting him to be so he felt that she needed more worldly experience. To see politics in another city. He encouraged her to carefully pick and plan a different city. Cassandra having been to Sacramento several times when she was young and as a mortal finally settled on it as her chosen city to return to.

Cassandra took the time to get the information on those she needed to contact and make the arrangements for the move. Then she wrote the appropriate letters to the names that she could find to make sure that the Invictus knew that she was coming. Then she packed the last of her things and prepared to send herself to Sacramento as well...

Being a 50's Movie star her face is still somewhat known even though not usually immediately recognizable. But thanks to various reasons she just has a quality to her still that people often feel they know her or have seen her before. It's something that she has been dealing with for the last 5 decades. She accepts that her fame still follows her in it's own way.
