Jack Falley

Cecil "Jack O. Falley" Warden is an Acanthus Mage of the Mysterium played by Kailaria. He was first introduced to Twilight Valley at the beginning of July. He's a friendly computer nerd.

Biography

Jack is about 6'4" and weighs about 180 lbs. He usually has a little scruff because he neglects to shave until his beard and mustache bug him too much, upon which he'll look clean shaven for upwards of two days. This tends to make him appear a bit older than his actual age. He likes to keep his hair in a buzz cut, because it's easier to maintain than any other hairstyle that doesn't involve shaving any part of his scalp.

People who don't know him very well are often intimidated by the serious look he carries, though he doesn't mean to do so; it's just his neutral facial position. He's very kind and friendly, and he loves to play piano and video games.

When he sets his mind to something he enjoys or something that's life or death, he devotes himself completely to see it through to the end. Even though he has Awakened, he still aspires to program for a game company. However, even though he dedicates himself so thoroughly, he'll often either lose his train of thought or at least want to ensure that every option has been perused before taking a course of action. In some cases, these traits will inevitably frustrate his peers.

History until Sacramento

Cecil Warden grew up in the Chicagoland area and went to the University of Illinois in Urbana-Champaign. He graduated from that university with a Bachelor's of Science in Computer Science, and is very proud of it. Not long after graduating, he got a job in San Fransisco working for a company that made games for community websites like Facebook and Kongregate.

After a few weeks working there, he Awakened to the Watchtower of the Lunargent Thorn. After messing around with magic for a bit, he met up with Arthur by chance of Fate, who would then become Cecil's Mentor not long after their first meeting. Arthur helped Cecil with understanding how Awakened society worked, and helped him come up with his Shadow name, "Jack O. Falley".

After a request to the Consilium of S.F., all of Jack's I.D.s were converted over to his new Shadow name officially with the government in a matter of a few days. However, anything that was originally tied to his family was cut off in order to make a new account. Arthur then helped Jack to move to Sacramento, figuring that it would be best to get away from where his True name had been established.

Speaking patterns

Jack speaks with a slight Chicagoan accent in his deep bass voice. His short vowels are usually kept very short to the point of non-existent, particularly with words like "to" and "the", while he often uses strong diction with his mid-word-'t's (like in "particular"), most 'k' sounds ("particular"), most 'f' sounds ("off"), and most 's' sounds ("sound"). His end-of-word 't's and 'd's usually fall off to little more than tiny exhales ("out" and "and"), and his "you"s sound more like "yuh".

However, all of the shortening conventions go out the window when he emphasizes a word, where he'll use strong diction for the entire word almost as though he were teaching someone how to say it.

He also will almost always make a point to correct someone's grammar or spelling. He usually knows what they actually mean, but does so to make sure that it is what they mean. This is another one of his not-so-redeeming traits.

Dress conventions

Jack often just goes about in his street clothes. In warm times, this will mean a t-shirt of some sort and cargo shorts. He has enough "outfits" in his collection from over his college years to last him about two weeks before having to do the laundry.

His t-shirt "collection" has a couple of Illini shirts, a number of shirts pertaining to one of the clubs he was in, a few video-game shirts, and the rest are either solid-color shirts with a accent at the collar and along the shoulder and sleeves, or they have a single accent stripe across the chest in addition. He has also made a couple of tie-dye shirts for himself.

In colder times, he'll go to khaki cargo pants and long-sleeved t-shirts or stylish sweatshirts, for the most part. Both the cargo pants and the shorts come in a variety of colors, but generally are either some shade of tan/beige, earthy green, or navy blue. The long-sleeved t-shirts and sweatshirts are mostly of the same style as his "generic" t-shirts mentioned above, but he also has a few Illini ones and some plain, solid-color ones without accents.
