Verity Carmen

Appearance

Verity is 5ft 9 inches of perfection, she always has been and she knows it. Her body emphasis the idealised beauty standard that many crave, envy and chase with restrictive diets, extensive exercise regimes and the latest products or surgeries. She needed none of it, she possessed that beauty of her own accord. Perfectly proportioned to her herself, her flawlessly symmetrical body curves, thins and thickens exactly where it should, exactly how it should, to enflame the imagination with desire, with passion, with her. On her nothing is out of place, no blemish, no mark, no imperfection just smooth and unbroken flawlessness.

The sublime bone structure of her face is enhanced by full lips that can smile wide, and green almond shaped eyes that have a perpetual misty quality, all framed by her main of thick auburn hair that falls down her upper back and over her chest when down.

The Doll Face

Had verity known what was to come that night she would have chosen different make up to dye her skin forever more but as is for the time being the full and perfect lips are coated in a deep purple lipstick with matching eye shadow that make her green eyes pop. The exposed skin of her face hands into forearms arms and feet into ankles and calves maintains an almost corpse like paleness even when blushed due to matte white foundation she applied to cover those areas. Finally her finger and toe nails are coated in a glossy black polish.

Her auburn hair is held in the states of effortless wildness as one who had been dancing in a mosh pit or perhaps between the sheets when it was set in stone for eternity.

Verity is close to her humanity and the artificial nature of her body is often offset by a maintained effort to appear human but every now and again if if her attention is sufficiently held elsewhere or she is caught wildly off guard her limbs will move with a exact rotating precision the human body simply is not capable of, its just a little to perfect.

When the make up comes off

It is rare for Verity to go to the effort to make significant changes to her appearances as far as make up is concerned given the effort needed to first remove that which reapplies itself each night. But when she does her she shows that the make up is a choice of expression, she had no need of it, (when blushed) her skin pale but radiant more like a field of snow, perfectly even with no tan lines or sun spots, lips full and lush and her misty green eyes almost hypnotic in their captivating glance.

Since the formal court of February 2024 Verity makes almost nightly efforts to style her hair into something fashionable or interesting to her rather then leave it in the inviting wild state it returns to each time she the sunsets.

As Simple as Breathing

Verity was born, raised and lived in Detroit. While not the worst off to call her family rich would be a bare faced lie. Always popular, always abele to get others to follow Verity had little need to do much herself instead cultivating her social talents. From a young age she has had a strong tie to music and enjoyed the classic rock artists from the mid twentieth century and onwards, if she wasn't cool enough already. Many tried to date her, and as they aged get her to commit to them, but each in turn only saw her as a prize or a means to rise themselves, she saw herself as so much more. Not being able to find one she considered an equal among the many who tired their hand as suitors Verity grew into a lifestyle of causal relationships, and the freedoms that come with sexual liberty in her adult life.

It wasn't until early adulthood and more serious exposure to the realms of politics and the wider world Verity began to realise that life was not so grand, that people suffered and that she actually gave a dam about it, the lyrics she had listened to her her whole life taking on new meaning and what she thought was her purpose in life made known. So she galvanised her drones as any queen bee would and joined protests, marches signed petitions all well and good only none of needs to be listened to of course. And what's worse, no matter how enthralling she might be, no matter how much effort she would put in, others fell away, work, marriage, moving. Life. Life cut people down. They would bemoan their circumstances but do less and less to change them. At this time Verity found herself at a loss, and perhaps more shockingly to her alone. Nothing had changed if anything things seemed to be getting worse and the only person she could reliably count on was herself a stark and chilling contrast to her life thus far, giving way eventually a fierce independent streak.

Embraced by the night

This frustration came to ahead when KISS announced their end of the line tour, one of the great bands, throwing in the towel. She almost didn't go to that concert but the allure of what promised to be one last wild ride drew her in, alone. So on the 13th of March 2019 (for those who pay attention to details this is the most recently sprayed painted date and band symbol on her minivan) She donned make up that both payed homage to the band but accented her own style, and there in the crowd drew the attention of many, but in particular one beautiful woman Róza Georgios, this woman separated Verity from the crowd with drinks and laughter and charm, Verity for her part had never found her self so enthralled by another woman like this. It was not long until they were along in a motel room, Verity confiding her woes and fears and hopes to this woman who listened ,caressed and with little effort moved things past conversation and during those moments of passion Verity died, and was embraced by the night.

Requiem for a rocker girl

The following weeks had little in the way of education for Verity beyond the basics of hunting and surviving and what to fear, no the nights were mostly burning through the passion her sire seemed to have in endless abundance. Until one night it stopped, Róza just stopped, her attention moving on to the next thing and leaving Verity largely in the care of her new older sister Sasha Michalina to educate her on the society of the night she now found herself in. The three shared a haven with Róza not ignoring her two childer per say but Verity certainly saw far more of Sasha, a more level headed kindred who taught Verity most of what she knows in the present night. Court life was challenging in its own ways unformatted, uncertain with a prince who ruled with an unpredictable and hidden veil of fear, occasionally Verity was strong armed into using her gifts of the blood to draw out confessions from those the officials needed when her mother was not around to do so, off on another whim. But it kept punishment away from them and Sasha did a good job instilling the importance of family and she still communicates with both on regular basis. .

Out from the shadow of a sire, the city of Sacramento

With all that in mind it took Verity longer than it otherwise would to leave Detroit. But the need to know who she was, what her place was, could not be found in the city of her birth and death, she still had living family to worry about, the kindred of the city had known her, or of her since night one and there were to many safety nets to be able to grow as she feels she needs to. So with some asking around Verity learnt of the far flung domain of Sacramento which would if rumour was to be believed accept an unaligned such as herself without to much in the way of taking issue. It was a long drive, domain to domain, stopping off to make sure her presence was known and her feeding was not poaching but night by night, motel room by motel room she and her minivan crossed the country.

Danseing on her own two feet

October of 2023 saw her arrival in the domain she was put to the immediate test to discover no Daeva of note called the domain home leading to a public acknowledgment process in court on the stage set by the Seneschal Jennifer Hazelton. Left to word her own promise of loyalty the process still seemed to be relatively smooth until the father Lamech another new arrival and unacknowledged kindred that night butted into the conversation with total disregard for the domain official. Despite Verity's best effort to guide the wayward priest to the correct course of action he continued to cause a scene that night.

Her first formal court saw the first real blunder on her part as what counted as formal in Detroit most certainly did not pass the standards of Sacramento. Something The Seneschal, Priscus Jacque, the prince and every faceless member of the masses made sure she knew by the end of the night.

The early months of her stay involved retrieving information for the seneschal from Priscus Baker and Whip Domínguez (A task that took until March of 2024 as he left the domain for a time) which she performed well in. Otherwise she played her part as a socialite and was out and about the city enjoying what it had to offer.

In January of 2024 she encountered the kindred Losh in a bowling a ally where he proceeded to openly talk of his life before cars and desire to eat a babysitter. Verity clammed down on this breach and tried to play it off like the two on them were on a date only for Losh to bail part way leaving her to contend with any fallout, fortunately none seemed to come.

February's formal court of that year proved to be interesting as Verity debuted her take on formal attire which went down considerably better then November after having learned from what some might call unorthodox sources. In was in this court the Prince publicly stated Verity was to report her information to the prince's ghoul Gabriel and no one else. Verity was also recruited by the Seneschal to aid in the blood hunt currently ongoing.

During February Verity accompanied Seneschal Hazelton to the club entropy where the targets of the blood hunt had been encountered before. One of the targets arrived and the Seneschal in a rare break of composure stormed aggressively across the room seemingly overcome by her bests reaction. Verity made use of her gifts of majesty to hold the rooms attention and prevent this from becoming an issue. What followed was a combination of Majesty and social skill to lure the target and a kine into the neighbouring ally in attempt to get the target to feed as was the plan however the Seneschal interrupted this and performed the kidnapping in front of the still conscious kine witness alluding to the hidden powers that run the city. The seneschal took the prisoner away and Verity played clean up with the kine, acting the victim and convincing him he was fine and safe and it wasn't his fault before sending him home in a taxi. (This was the first report she passed to Gabriel and has since gone to lengths to keep the price informed).

Verity continued to seek information on the other targets of the blood hunt through march. Also meeting with Raul at long last for the awaited meeting in exchange schooling him in how to offer an apology to Priscus Jacque and promising to invite him along should anything on interest happen.

April was when she was first contact by Luke Dacian in his attempt to bypass domain officials and proper procedure in an attempt to meet with the prince. She informed him she was not Priscus of the clan at that time and he should contact the Seneschal. Verity also investigated a double homicide that occurred in cedar park, as messing with law enforcement is forbidden she followed a tip off from Ms. Clarke and investigated two more potential targets, follow a hooded figure from the school she eventually links two figures to it, unsure in the moment if they were ghouls or kindred she engaged in conversation and learnt names peter and specifically that of Adair Dacian was concerning.

May saw formal court once more and Verity, spoke with the prince about her concerns regarding the Dacians and was called into a private meeting a few nights later. Where she was given permission to keep the Reeve informed of events and get her involved in the investigation. Verity, The Reeve and Raul went to Cedar park to look for the poacher and murderer Will to little avail. They did acquire an I.D. card and a key for a locker. This month also saw Verity met with the Ms. Clarke the only other Daeva of the domain and member of the faceless masses, it was agreed Verity would take the title of Priscus of the clan. Ms. Clarke also passed on a titbit about Will that turned out to be false.

June was a debrief about the ongoing investigation, everyone was caught up to speed and each of the three kindred were assigned areas of focus.

July was a explosive month. At court Verity had to call Priscus Baker to handle his duties, The seneschal was publicly removed from the reporting process, it was publicly confirmed that Verity had been right as she had denied information to several kindred believing the prince had told her to report only to Gabriel and in time the Reeve, Verity pulled the spot light to herself by over steeping her own bounds pulling it off Priscus Baker who the seneschal was publicly chastising for not keeping his clan in better order, but earning the princes displeasure and punishment in the process of her political manoeuvre, and the ongoing months of disrespect shown by Neville Godwin led the Reeve to shout threats of punishment after him as he left court. All in all leaving the Daeva with plenty to contemplate as the night wore on.

The Seneschal hosted a book night in which she held up Neville as an exemplary kindred even after this fiasco, a serious sticking point between the official and Priscus of the Daeva, the official then challenging and kindred to make something stick to her. A challenger Verity took up. It was here Verity learned of the joint meeting between clans Mekhet and Nosferatu.

Verity continued in her assigned areas oft he investigation writing enough letters to put strain on the postal system and making calls to pursue leads, cross check information and try to make sense of some of what was going on. She also made efforts to recruit additional help for the investigation all of these efforts were to little or no avail.

Verity and The Reeve met with Luke Dacian + his sire's ghoul Adair in a hotel room of Verity's choosing instead of the private house Dacian demanded she attend. After his total inability to keep a story straight, several contradictions, a lot of back tracking and being forced to revel more information as a consequence Verity growing more suspicious with every falsehood asking the Reeve to bring the two in, The Reeve agreed and told the two what would happen if they tried to walk. The Dacians choose to ignore reeve and as a result violence. What followed was a shit show that spilled into public and in the aftermath and attempted damage control more contradictions were found as videos longer then the fight had lasted and showing things inconsistent with the events became known, furthering Verity's suspicions about her cousin from San Diego.

Towards the end of the month Verity acknowledged the first new Daeva since herself Juliette Allard.

The formal court of August saw Verity serve her public apology to the prince's satisfaction and make a peace offering the Seneschal. A debrief of the Dacian throw down and the potential fallout in which the value of her reports was made apparent. And the acknowledgement of two more Daeva: Alicia Silvers and Rebecca Dawson.

After growing closer with an increasing circle of her blood relations from afar, Verity departed the domain at the start of October 2024 to visit with her great grand sire in Hungary.

Hooks

• The night is vast and full of pleasure: Verity is at her heart a socialite and enjoys a wide variety of experiences.

• Resonance of the shattered soul: Music still holds a place of great importance to the Rocker girl, you can often tell more about her state of mind by paying attention to what she's listening to, or so she would have others believe.

• Davea danse better: Verity holds family close and extends this beyond just her immediate blood, but woe betide the Daeva who turns their back on family.

• Foolish hope: An often over looked trait is that her first interaction is almost always to help or offer it. Despite being burned by this practice a lot.

• Cast into eternity: She has immeasurable pride in being kindred, but is loathe to see harm to the kine and will likely help if they are in danger.

• With my own hands: Verity embodies what in her mind it means to be unaligned, she is not opposed to titles or wealth or status or even company. Her choice to danse for lack of a better term alone is to show she can, it can be done. So when she does get something its uncontestably hers. It's why she also personally opposes the idea of having a ghoul.

• Fashion of the night: Since coming to the domain and the blunder of November 2023 Verity has engaged a lot more with Fashion and enjoys making her own outfits rather then just taking something off the shelf. These outfits have always included a gold rose motif or emblem somewhere in them.
