Unbound Smoke is a all about information: Sleeper contacts and allies and influence letting them get things done without having to throw lightning bolts all over the place. As a result, the characters are socially capable, at least somewhat known in Sleeper circles people who can bring an expansion of their network to the table.
The long-term aim is to build a web, reaching to all the important places, to be the first to know when something interesting to the Pentacle happens and to know the most.
Ariadne is the Guardian Epopt and one of the Cabal's founding members. Extremely good at Mind and commanding the resources of the Veil, she's the only member who has been with the Unbound Smoke since its creation without pause.
Paranoia is pretty much part of the job for the Veils and their Sanctum provides her with the place where she can feel relatively safe. Plus, old reliable friends: something that is hard to find in Sacramento's ever-changing Concillium.
Ariadne is the master of damage control, so if Unbound Smoke learns of a breach, she can be counted on to find a way to make it go away without rolling a murdering train through the neighbourhood.
Adrian Isaacs. The literal rock-star of the Unbound Smoke and the most senior member of the Silver Ladder in the city. With strong ties in the entertainment industry and considerable resources, Ixidor is all about getting things done in a spectacular fashion. Where Ariadne would spread panic and make Sleepers leave the area during an Awakened investigation, Ixidor would hold a concert the day before, turning the neighbourhood into a drunken hang-over junk-yard where nobody gives a crap that people are fighting Abyssal monsters with light-sabers.
Ermon is one of the newer Cabal members who joined about a year ago. He's a chef, a conman and a social chameleon. To him, Unbound Smoke is the most important part of his Awakened Life as he prefers to place his trust in people, not ideals. And he trusts Ixidor and Ariadne. He's also the one responsible for feeding the Cabal - a task that he enjoys immensely.
He is the guy you want to go to if you need some info from the criminal world or the culture scene.
Vincent Royce. One of the newest recruits, Vincent Royce is the son of an influential and extremely loaded family, who also owns the Byzantine. A charming man with far-reaching connections who also didn't lose his eye while hiking. In time he is sure to prove to be a major asset.
Bishop is a Guardian Moros who joined after failing at trying to establish his own Cabal. For him it was simply a matter picking the place taht suited his talents most. Being a journalist himself, he's an essential part of the Unbound Smoke network, capable of both keeeping an ear to the ground and handling press fall-out. He also brings a number of contacts at the Cabals disposal, cultivating them with information trafficking and also using newspaper articles to gently nudge reputations into the desired directions. Bishop is on uneasy terms with Pixel, but since Ariadne is his direct superior, he can't do anything about it.
The final member of Unbound Smoke is Pixel, Ariadne's cat who can be found striding through the endless corridors of their Sanctum as if she owns the place. Intruders and guests alike beware! Your clothes and small items will not remain unmolested! But if you are an honored guest then Pixel will claw her way through your coats with love, not hate.
Unbound Smoke owns top 5 floors of a skyscraper in downtown Sacramento (Capitol Towers - 1500 7th St). The place is an endless labyrinth of rooms and corridors, connected to each other in haphazard fashion. As a part of securing the place, Ermon likes to do some light remodeling during the weekends. Said remodellig includes cutting doors between unused rooms and putting brick walls where straight passages should be. When the work is complete, anyone not living in the Sanctum will have a mental breakdown from trying to navigate it.
Most of the Sanctum is currently empty after previous owners leaving with all their stuff. Long passages, empty rooms where only traces of furniture remain on the walls and floor. Of course, personal quarters are another matter and some bigger rooms have been cleared out for common use.
Ermon's own place looks weird. It's a large studio apartment which is dominated by a huge sofa a similarly-sized wardrobe with clothes and make-up and a small workbench to work with wood. Most of the time, there is some sort of meat hanging from the ceiling, drying: it can be a slice or it can be 20 sausages in neat rows. Alltogether it looks like a place where a person works more than lives. And it's true: Ermon can always be found reading, sharpening cooking knives, varnishing that wooden statuette he made the night before. Various instruments lie on the workbench and sometimes simply on the floor.
Other furniture includes a flat table next to the workbench that he uses for cooking-related work that takes time.
Bishop's private quarters are behind the library. Even though he prefers to live with low lights and close to the ground, his private room has a large window-front faceing west. His room is immaculately clean and for the most part without any accessories. However, there are a number of odd objects, placed in regular patterns throughout the room. These objects change, ranging from ear-pins (which he never actually wears) up to wooden boxes. A table with a laptop and a white-board covering one complete wall are the only things that give away at his profession, since they are usually covered in items related to his articles or investigations. Bishop is a very private person and rarely allows anyone inside his room, prefering to meet people in the library. The Librarium currently offers more space for books than actually required. It has a ceiling window, allowing for daylight and has four separate tables for researching. The floor is wood and covered with a thick rug, damping down steps. An older wooden piano stands in one corner, along with a rack filled with music sheets, comprised of mostly classical works. The Library is secured with an electronic lock with a keypad. Bishop's room is secured likewise.
