Henry Pym

Henry Pym is a Guardian of the Veil, Mastigos Path, of the Subtle Ones Legacy. His formal title among the Guardians is that of Epopt. His title before then, and for a long time, was Susceptor, though he'd never publicize it. In fact, he publicizes very very little about himself, choosing to live on the fringe of Awakened society, and of society as a whole.

He has alternately been described as paranoid, an anachronism, a fossil, and just about every other word along those lines.

Appearance

Henry Pym has many different appearances. MANY. He has been old, young, fat, thin, hairy, bald, short, tall, and more besides. Those who observe him without the glow of magic about him can attest that his real appearance seems to be that of a man in his 50s or 60s. He might at one time have been perfectly fit, but today he could best be described as average.

He almost always dresses in cheap, off-the-rack suits, often dirty from whatever it is he spends his days doing. His shoes (always velcro'd, interestingly) are similarly scuffed and dirty.

Nimbus

When performing magic that shows his Nimbus, Henry's eyes appear sunken, his face tired, his body weary. Shadowy figures appear behind him, as though there was an army looking over his shoulder. The apparitions are accompanied by that feeling of dry heat that could sear the eyebrows off; But this is no natural heat, no natural fire. It's unclear by the way they seem whether the figures support the Mastigos, or harry him. What is definite, however, is that they are watching him, and staying close.

Biography

Pre-Awakening

This part of Henry's life is, and will likely always, remain a mystery. As far as anyone can figure out, secrecy, lies, and shadows have always been a part of his life. All of this is unproven conjecture however.

Awakened life

One of the first true mentors Henry has ever had called herself Duty. She was a woman of about Henry's age, but had Awakened earlier than him, and thus had some experience under her belt. She took him in, and immediately set him on the path to Guardianhood. Together, they worked the shadows for the sake of the Veil, no matter who stood in their way. neither of them was in any way remarkable, and that is the way both worked.

In fact, while working under Duty's orders, Henry showed a real talent for impersonation. Whether this is a continuation of what he did in his Sleeper life, or a newly acquired talent, is anyone's guess. Nonetheless, infiltrating places under the guise of someone who really belongs there has been his bread and butter since then. A lover, a parent, a brother. He has been all those things, to all kinds of people. Usually the people he is asked to look into, or kill.

At the same time his roles in society changed, his personality shifted. He purged emotions, and anything that might be a liability. He became a singular saying : "Nothing but the mission." As the final step in that modification to his way of thinking, his very name became malleable. He has called himself, at various times : Stripes, Clyde, Mikhail, Question, and a host of other names.

Conspiracy theories

Henry Pym has seen the truth of the world. He knows what hides behind everything. The Seers. They are behind the fashion you wear, the food you eat, the cellphone you use. It's just that noone takes the time to look. Henry, however, is assaulted by these visions, and has made it his life's work to uncover every single piece of the world, and link it back to everything.

He has shared his theories with no one in Sacramento. He conducts this 'research' alone, without backup or the knowledge of anyone else. He has already linked many, many things to the Seers, and continues to expand as he finds proof.
