After an attempt to disrupt the Obelisks which kills Blackfire, Animus awakens alone in the twilight. He manages to cross the Gauntlet with a ritual and is found by Zero and Joshua. Animus explains the situation to the Libertine and Arrow before urging them to bring him to meet with the Elders.

The Trio meets with Calligan and Animus recounts his experiences since being assigned to the late Blackfire’s Cabal and his suspicion of the pentacle in the spirit realm’s part in the disappearance of Sacramento’s former Mages.

Animus requests to leave his Familiar in Calligan’s care when warned of Guardians of the Veil; instead he sends it back to his Sanctum before learning that he has to return again to Discovery Park to find one of his cabal-mates.
