It's nearly two in the morning. Really, what better time to investigate a closed Air Force base?

Amazingly, they're not the only ones with this idea.

Sneaking onto the runways and joining the Not Quite Mile High Club is a time honored past-time. Unfortunately, it's also the cause for the revival of the excellent security -- lights and fences -- that surround the facility. Of that facility, half is now a business park and museum.

Everyone's tired. Unless you've got something (powers, merits) to mitigate, -1 penalties are assessed to all rolls involving Mental Attributes and Skills -- including Perception.

Knowing that they were heading toward enemy territory, Miach didn't want to risk running into a patrol, or whatever else, unprepared. Taking hold of a weak strand of Fate, the Acanthus bent it slightly so as at least to advert the most heinous possibilities, and perhaps even nudge the events beneficially, for both him and Ariadne...

Not that it looked all that good, when you stood in the shadows in front of the Airbase. How the heck do you enter such a thing undetected ? Could the others perhaps have an idea ? Regardless, it seemed it would be yet another all-nighter. To the doctor, it seemed like an old, time-tested friend was calling him... but he denied it for now, and instead focused on boring a hole in the fences that surrounded the facility throuhg his mere gaze.

Sitting in the front of Aaren's car, having relegated Mal to the back seat, Coco rolled down the window, set her elbow on the door, her chin on her palm, and turned her eyes in the direction of the base. There were many other places she would have rather been looking, but the fate of her glorious reputation, and a man's life, demanded her attention be on the task at hand. The security certainly seemed tight, it was true, but there were always flaws. Always ways to find victory if one were wry, spry, and tenacious enough.

"I believe tonight might be one of risk, Lady Aaren," she mused, still studying the base, "but fear not! We shall come away from this night with nothing but the vivacious feeling of victory humming in our breasts."

"Aw shit..." Ariadne fails to murmur quietly to herself as the group gets closer. Figures this place would get re-purposed somehow. She takes a moment to ensure that her protections are still active. Cloaking them would be better but it's not worth wasting more resources at this point.

Again Ariadne wonders if Coisma is touched in the head or always like this. Who knows really, the Lie is full of oddity.

The well timed arrival of the group lets them observe a changing of the guard.

It's a Chinese Fire Drill with a golf cart.

A sumo-sized man replaces a thin, reedy one -- a regular Laurel and Hardy situation. Several minutes are spent in conversation before the slender one departs, headed toward a handful of cars in a side parking lot.

"There! There is our mark!" Coco declared, gesturing at the thin man, doubtlessly just off shift. She turned back to the others, eyes alight, antennae standing aloft. "If we hurry, or if we follow him, we can use him to gain access. Shall we attempt to persuade him first? To deceive him? Question him? Or simply take from him? I believe compromising the human security will be our most likely chance of success. Otherwise, I do believe that we will have to rush or risk the Other Side, which I do not recommend."

Well... Magic had its perks, it seemed. The Acanthus didn't smile as he watched the guard leave, though, because he had little idea of what to do from now on. They were presented with an opportunity, and he knew they just had to seize it, but how... He knew he was no fighter, for starters. And just plain assaulting the man without hiding their faces... The man probably had nothing to do with their stalkers, either.

" Ariadne , can you somehow sweet-talk the man, perhaps ? because I know I can't..." he had to admit, even though the Enchanter hated it.
