===In Clan Disciplines===
In-Clan [[Disciplines]] (including [[Bloodline]]) require no teacher.  


===Common Disciplines=== 
Out-of-Clan (-not- including Clan 'signature') Disciplines can be 'activated' by a character without a teacher. Each month, the player may roll Blood Potency; once they attain successes equal to twice the total 'dot' level of the Discipline being activated, they may develop/purchase it. The player MUST have the XP required to purchase it before they can begin rolling, and it remains 'in escrow' until the Discipline development is completed. Having a teacher skips this requirement.


===Clan 'Signature' Disciplines===
Learning a Clan's signature Discipline '''always requires a character teacher'''.  These are [[Auspex]], [[Dominate]], [[Majesty]], [[Nightmare]], and [[Protean]].  The teacher must belong to the respective Clan.
