Nigel stood outside, sightly admiring Monica's skill achieving what he had so recently failed at. Nigel tried to keep a smile on his face as he watched her vanish into the building.
The rise of emotions he was concealing consumed his thoughts. Anger that she had so easily achieved what he could not, embarrassment that he was now going to have live down his failure, and fear that he was not cut out for this particular crew.
Hard thing in life to realize your not good at your job, even worse when that job is important to your sense of self.
But All Nigel could do is wait, consumed with his thoughts.
