"Not yet" Kordecki says weakly.
"Uh, is everything alright?"
Monkeys and footballs come to mind.
Frank yells, "No, everythin' ain't alright! We lost Patolli!" He puts his regulator, or whatever the damn things are called, back in and starts heading back down to search, assuming Warren would do the same.
Kordecki's awkwardness seems to vanish instantly.
"Warren what is going on that has Frank panicked? If you are all together why would you ask if the others were up? Should we be calling in DART?" (Drowning Accident Rescue Team)
As Kordecki ascertains the situation he gets his phone out. We are well within the rescue hour. Panic and water are a fatal combination for humans.
Warren's hands flutter like butterflies; it's clear the situation is a bit overwhelming.
"Is there coffee?" she asks plaintively.
Kordecki is seeing sheer panic or unbridled stupidity from this half wit decaf Charlie's Angel wanna be.
He dials DARTS back line. "This is LT Kordecki with the SPD, I have a potential situation. We had three divers in the water, investigating a shipwreck. One is out but, seems to be in shock. One is MIA and the other is panicked about the missing one and has re-entered the water. We are at ##%#$@$ by the old $%%^$#. I hope I am jumping the gun, but time is against us in these situations. Please advise."
He walks over the the edge staring down into the bubbly wake were Frank just was.
Not seeing then below, Vince looks above, finding A figure coing his way.
Apparently they left him behind. Vince can not honestly blame them. He swims back towards the other diver and the surface.
When Frank sees another diver surfacing, he assumes it is Patolli and turns back himself, calling off Kordecki with a "Hey, he's coming up now!" once he reaches topside. The old detective's adrenaline falls, a crisis avoided, and he waits in the water for their partner to make it up before he tries to get out. While he waits, he double-checks that's he's still got hold of those flakes.
"Yeah here they are, I was too quick to act, but glad you all are there" Kordecki hangs up the phone.
"Frank you two okay?"
Kordecki helps both the divers out of the water and with their gear.
"So, yeah, there's a boat down there," Warren offers sagely, now that the crisis is over.
Vince welcomes the help after they are all working to un-gear. "Yes, A boat. The hull was filled with dirt already. I couldn't get to the engine room." The bit about drowning is kept to himself. Vince is a man after all. not some pansy whiny kid. No sir.
