Once one of the security guys was alongside her, Velma decides to approach the group wearing her kindest heart melting smile.

While his telephone conversation with Dillon is still on, Chris nods in response to Velma. A moment later, his little talk is over and he wanders inside the club. Velma will probably handle this quite well, with security by her side. That's why he's not going to involve himself in the situation.
Still, standing at the door would draw more attention than just walking around inside. Might something happen to Velma, he'll be close enough. Now he can see if there are still any suspicious people with camera's here. And... well there's enough to see.
