The herd milled about, blissfully unaware of the predator in their midst. At least on a conscious level. Subconsciously they were, subconsciously they reacted. Slick was well-used to the behavior by now. The way they would shy away from her, the wary glances from the corner of their eye. On an instinctual level they certainly recognized her as an alpha predator, among the most dangerous beings to be able to call the material world home. On a "reasonable" level that level of danger was never something they'd attribute to a woman of her size, beauty.

As an Elodoth she'd always found that dichotomy interesting.

The herd both was and wasn't her concern tonight. Of immediate concern was Eric, and the interloper. One a mortal, the other...something else. Of there involvement with the government, with the supernatural. Information that was being stolen, apparently. Something that might be her problem as well as theirs because she didn't know just what it contained, or who it might be spread to if stolen.

After all, the herd must not know.

That was why she'd have gone to the meeting alone if she had to, despite the dangers that doing so would undoubtedly pose. Thankfully she didn't have to, something that certainly put her own lupine instincts at ease. So she waited now, at the appointed meeting place, for Firebringer and Daniel. They might not technically be pack. But for now, for this, they essentially were a temporary one. And that was enough to bring her a measure of peace of mind.

Daniel comes together with Firebringer. In Hishu, he's still intimidating: toned muscles bulge under the leather and t-shirt and the jeans don't really conceal how much he runs. A military man would think him a soldier. A mountain guide would peg him a pathfinder. But only an Urdraga would see what he really is: a combat-specialized Urdraga, always there to take the first punch to protect what he claims as his.

In essence, this is what he's here to do tonight. Chantay's proven at least part of why they called her slick and Firebringer, even if he often looked like he's about to snap, always reined in those impulses. Daniel is here as support and protection if and when shit hits the fan.

Which leaves his mind to wander. He assumed that no more than a handful of mortals knew of the existence of supernaturals. If it was a thing at the government level... Could they still contain it?

The antics of the herd bring a wicked smirk to Firebringer's face. Fearful livestock. Even when they refused to admit it, they knew their place; recognized and feared the hunters in their midst. Those pitiful humans could never be true hunters.

On approaching Chantay, the meninna's smile turns a bit warmer. And if the herd steered well clear of the grouping, it just gave them that slight extra bit of privacy. Eyes flick about, taking in the tide of bodies breaking around them.

Flowing almost as the shadowed warriors had. The thought was a disquieting one. Still, nothing to do but press on. Eyes dart about, noting the bubble formed by their presence. A quick estimate of humans' dulled senses, and he pitches his voice to hopefully remain within that bubble. "I dreamt of a shadow war, beneath the surface of our own. I'm not entirely certain how to interpret what I saw of the sides involved, but the man we found cut in half ... was one of us before being drawn into this fight."

He lets the silence stretch out, waiting for the reaction this news would draw.

Well that certainly complicated things. Whether this was something that concerned the People no longer seemed to be a theoretical question, not if one of them had entangled themselves deeply enough within this to get himself killed. But the troubling part was that they had no real idea of what his involvement had been. Had he been trying to steal back information about werewolves, just stumbled across the phones, decided to work with the other group and just steal something else, had he been targeted?

Just another unknown, adding to the ones they'd already had. She didn't even know whether the man had been Urdaga or Anshega.

"Well that's...ominous." She keeps her pace sedate, as they begin to head towards the coffee shop. They had plenty of time, after all, no need to rush the conversation. "Was there any insight as to how he became involved? Or...what he thought of the moon?

If Daniel looked wary and serious before, it's nothing compared to his expression now. What he's just heard is very bad news. At least, he remembers to also keep his voice low and not show how bothered he is:

"So the warlock is probably responsible for doing one of us in?"

A pause, a face marred with contemplation:

"They're trying to use us, keep us as pet dogs or put us down", - he keeps the growl inside, doing his best not to attract attention.

The Meninna cuts a rapid pace, forcing the others to either keep up or lose the thread of conversation. "Our side. I caught sight of a face I won't soon forget. His side was chaotic; the warlock's ordered, coordinated. Perhaps even controlled. It's the best I could get out of the dream's symbolism."

At Daniel's question, he turns to regard the Storm Lord for a moment. Uneasy as the nearby herd were, running into one of them wasn't exactly a likely outcome. "Be that as it may, we don't exactly have other leads. Should their goods prove dangerous, we'll have a much better shot of disrupting it if we're the ones keeping watch. Unless you have a better plan?"

"And we're trying to use them, to play along just enough to learn what they know and decide what we need to do about it." She shrugs as she says the words, increasing her pace to match Firebringer's own. "It's the nature of this kind of thing. And either we find a way to make it mutually beneficial, or...we make sure we play the game better than they can."

    "Either way,"
her teeth flash in a grin that distinctly conveys the Uratha's predatory nature, "I trust our instincts more than theirs."

Daniel shakes his head and follows them:

"Nah, this is our best bet. I'll keep an eye out for ambushes, just in case. Think they won't find it suspicious".

And then he shuts up and walks, after nodding appreciatively at Chantay. It's time to dive in and hope they walk out of this alive.

A short nod. "Then we're in agreement, it seems. I suppose the only question left is which side's plan unravels faster."

Seems a good point to fastforward to the meeting West

Slick had had the wolves meet up plenty early in case they needed the time to talk over the revelation that Firebringer had mentioned over the phone. They hadn't, and combined with the fairly quick pace that Firebringer had set it meant that they arrived far in advance of the appointed meeting time with Eric. But that was fine, patience was a thing that every wolf needed to possess.

And there was the benefit of getting to pick their spot. An empty table in the back corner, perfect. It let them put their backs to the wall. So just in case things did go FUBAR the only way to try to sneak an attack from behind them would be to actually go through said wall. And she did doubt that this government group had any real desire to be that overtly destructive.

Slick, herself, took the center seat. It was a tactical consideration. She was Elodoth, Daniel was Rahu, and Firebringer was...Firebringer. Having them at the edge of the table would allow them to, if necessary, clear it and enter a fray all the quicker. A consideration she was certain they'd both approve of.
