This early in the morning, traffic is a little annoying. Trapped in a sardine can, bumper to bumper with more cars, on a concrete expanse run by colored lights? It's enough to make anyone crazy. Maybe more so for those who have the call of the wild in their veins.

A fence lines the perimeter of McClellan. The Uratha pass the northeast side, where the Aerospace Museum is now located on the defunct Air Force base. Further south, towards the coordinates, there are large steel structures for housing planes. Large. Planes. One row of hangars looks to be larger than some small sports stadiums.

Bailey Loops is a small access road that curves by an entry point between two rows of hangars. A matte black SUV is parked by it, and Eric is waiting. Unlike the past three times Chantay has seen him, he's dressed... well. A light grey suit and red tie complement his salt and pepper hair. Although he's speaking on the phone, he waves for them to park next to his vehicle.

No one really ever seemed to expect an environmental lawyer to drive around an SUV. No doubt many of them felt that, given their poor gas mileage, doing so was somewhat hypocritical of them. But during her time in Idaho Slick had had plenty of need for off-road capability, and for the ability to haul a pack of werewolves around with her. So she'd considered a vehicle that could handle rough terrain to be a wise investment. Now that she was in Sacramento again there wasn't quite the need to take it off-road as much. But needing to travel in groups was certainly still a consideration, it always was for an Uratha. So she'd kept the Grand Cherokee. Firebringer and Daniel had, of course, been offered a ride.

A part of her, given the circumstances, supposed that it looked the part for something used in an escort service too. Well, almost...it was a dark green instead of black.

Another part of her had almost been tempted to go for the solemn bodyguard in a suit look, as well. But she figured her companions were unlikely to conform to such a thing themselves. Firebringer, in particular, she had trouble imagining choosing an outfit for this outing based on anything besides how easily he could move and fight in it. So she'd simply gone with a sensible pair of shoes, and a decent pair of jeans. Pairing them with a loose shirt hat was hidden beneath a light leather jacket that wouldn't hinder her movements in the slightest. And her hair had been twisted up into a knot back at the base of her skull. Any fight in the city would likely keep her in Hishu form, so she actually had to take care to ensure that her hair couldn't be grabbed and used as a handhold in a grapple.

She pulls up to park at the indicated space. Noting, despite herself, as she did that he looked damn good in a suit. Once the vehicle is parked she climbs out, but stays quiet for now to let Eric finish up his conversation.

Firebringer is second out of the Cherokee. A powerful vehicle, perhaps it could even be considered a hunter among its kind.

He missed his old Land Cruiser.

Regardless, this was hardly the time to pine for the past; the present contained trouble enough. Wary eyes flick to Eric. The way he moved, the way he talked ... he was a hunter, too. And among the herd, that almost always boded ill.

Daniel enjoyed the trip. The space, the small of other Urdaga... It reminded him of simpler, more feral times.

He steps out of the vehicle after Firebringer and stays a bit behind almost unconsciously checking the surroundings of their ad hoc Pack. Too bad Chantay isn't bound to their Totem, though, some of that telepathy could be really handy now.

By the time they're out of Chantay's SUV, Eric is done with his conversation. The sleek phone disappears into a pocket.

    "This way," he gestures.

There's only one guard at the checkpoint. He doesn't stop them, or move at all when Eric waves at him, in that 'They're With Me' gesture. In fact, the guard is oddly still. A utility cap casts a deep shadow, obscuring any features in the moment that there is before they pass.

"I hope you looked at the maps? We're going to follow a delivery."

A finger points at a helicopter, who's blades are just starting to spin.

Hopefully, no one's scared of heights.

The way the guard just didn't move was...strange. But also not something of particular concern at the moment. She somehow doubted that a fight was going to break out in the next few minutes before they got on the helicopter.

Which...was a new experience for her. She hadn't even flown very often in her life. Her mother, supporting the two of them on her own, certainly hadn't had much extra for vacations as she was growing up. Nor was there much money for that during college or law school. And afterwards...well, life as a werewolf tended to discourage traveling. So plane rides had been few and far between, all in all. And she'd never been in a helicopter before.

Thankfully, she isn't scared of heights.

She was a bit surprised. She'd assumed they'd be on the ground, functioning as bodyguards of sorts. Apparently that wasn't the case. "So...we're providing overwatch, then?"

A ghost of a chuckle at the helicopter. Herd contraptions. Always trying to defy their rightful limitations.

Still, if the machine flew, he could deal with the change in perspective. "Sounds simple enough. Any gotchas we should know about?"

Daniel flew in a helicopter once before after his First Change. Hated every minute of it: mandatory Hishu, the noise drawing out the senses... And on ground you could always maneuver. In a helicopter you could pretty much only drop out and die if something went wrong. Even planes were better: in case of emergency, kill the pilot and take his chute. Easy-peasy.

Firebringer and Chantay have got the talking handled so he settles on what he does best - brooding.

"No," Eric says, raising his voice as they near the helicopter. He's turned, answering Chantay.

"I'm just giving you an overview of the route. After that, you're on your own."

    He's yelling now.

The blades have turned into a blur, and there's a rhythmic thumping sound. Eric's hair flattens against his head and one hand moves up to secure his jacket and tie. He looks at Matthew, points to his ear, then the helicopter. The passenger door is open, and the interior holds luxurious leather seats. A headset is on each one.

Eric moves to the cockpit door, leaning in. A moment later, the pilot slips out, and Eric takes his place. Deft hands fasten his harness and slide a headset over his head.

He's pretty sure they won't jump the pilot in the middle of the trip.

The headsets will connect them all via closed circuit radio, and even as nice as the helicopter is, it's loud inside. It will be very, very difficult to communicate without using the headsets and letting everyone hear.

Ahh, that made a bit more sense.

And she suddenly finds herself quite thankful that she'd tied her hair back. Because she'd just hate to see how much the chopper's blades would be blowing it around right now had she left it loose. Having her unzipped jacket flapping around was bad enough. But thankfully that ceased to become an issue once she absolutely hopped inside the chopper.

Once inside she wastes little time putting on her own headset. It blocked out some of the incessant noise from the blades, at least.
