Michael's doesn't want them caught but he's pretty sure Jack wouldn't believe him if he called and offered help. Honestly it would be stupid of him if he did.
Taylor doesn't try because the last thing he/she needs is someone finding/catching Jack and then looking at his cell phone to see calls/txts from Taylor.

Not always, just when not numerically superior (alone) or in a position of immediate and ridiculous advantage (like when the opponent is bound, gagged and blinded and he's about half a mile away with a sniper rifle trained on the opponent's head).
