The Icarians trace their origins back to one of the most revered leaders the covenant has ever seen, Icarius the Archbishop of Naples. The bloodline strode throughout Mediterranean Europe from fifteenth to seventeenth century, displacing dozens of Princes and Archbishops replacing them with their own scions. But as more and more cities faced the so-called Icarian Heresy with outright force and the greater body of the Lancea Sanctum began regarding them as heretical usurpers with no regard to the covenant, the Dynasts relented. Ever since the Dynasts have reevaluated their philosophies and tactics. The solution is calculated, well-reasoned and insidious. They came to understand that they must reclaim their good name through many years of pious service and demonstrations of skill.
