Fisher sat as the others spoke. It wasn't much, but it showed that people were thinking about him and remembering him, which was the important thing. She did think it was odd that Wayland would want to say something and then not show up, but then again there were plenty of other things he just didn't care enough about to do, including for his own order.
She watched as silence spread out once more and it was getting awkward again. The thyrsus didn't have anything further to add. The people that were going to speak said their piece it looked over. Star getting up and leaving kind of clinched it for Fisher, it gave others a notification, it opened the door. I mean there wasn't even a pot luck afterward so there was no reason to stick around, funerals or memorial services usually had sandwiches and punch or something didn't they?
Standing up she slowly made her way to the door as well. She wondered just how she would be remembered if she died. Would people even have anything good to say about her? Would it just be more awkward silence and people asking themselves if they can leave yet? Would anyone besides Tuesday and one or two others even notice? With the way that a growing number of people didn't like her, she felt it might be closer to a celebration when she died.
When she reached the door she realized that it didn't really matter how she would be remembered, she didn't join the Arrows for glory or for a sense of pride. Doing her duty was really all that mattered in the end.
"So long Crowley," she said quietly as she exited the building.
Campanella lingered till the very end of the service.
He had not realised that Sacramento could be so dangerous to the Awakened, though to an extent the dangers of a foray through time could be expected.
Still... So many...
He remained respectful in his stance and attitude. He did not need to know the people behind the names; he only had to show due deference to the dead. Those who had gone before were no longer people: they were examples to follow, lessons to be learned, ancestors to respect.
The Moros leaves only when it becomes clear that the memorial is over.
And soon, there are only candles and a skateboard to commemorate the fallen.
