(Familiar Stranger) Detective Work

Having made her way with Ethan to the doorway, keeping as concealed as possible in the shadows...waiting...Martha checked the message. A nod. She sends a message in the affirmative and checks her footing. "Rescue has arrived, sir! Let's go...I shall zigzag in my movements, sir, to try to confound any snipers...please try to stay with me. I shall be at your side!" and she begins to lead Ethan across the open ground to the waiting car.

Boosting her sight through the gift of Auspex, Martha checks the number plate and model of the vehicle to see if it really is Chey and the Sedan she expects.

If satisfied Chey has arrived, Martha takes time to carefully scan the environment. She will not be hurried in this moment of potential danger.

Mindful of potential sniper fire from window, rooftop or alleyway. Mindful of obstacles...using them for cover where possible...mindful it might still be a trap. The open ground was a worry for her. She weaves a zigzag pattern across the open ground, hoping to cause as much trouble for any sharpshooter as she can.

Martha is taking very little for granted as she tries to lead her friend to the safety he needs.

Russell allows himself to be escorted blindly in the fashion Martha chooses, doing his best to add his own Auspexed hearing to the mix, and using the feedback to move as quietly as he can. Momentarily confused at the prospect of snipers, Russ reminds himself that this is more or less Martha's show, now.

He is just... observant, walking luggage...

Remaining attentive to threat and keen to present as small a target as possible, Martha tries to help Ethan to the waiting car.

Hopefully getting to the waiting vehicle, she tries the rear passenger door, keeping close to the body of the car and trying to keep the door between her as a shield from anyone within...just in case it's a trap.

"Miss Cheyenne?" she asks tentatively.

After securing Ethan with as much care and attention as she can manage, Martha nervously buckles herself in. Accepts the note with a Thank You and reads it. Adding another "Thank you, miss...it is most generous. I am glad my friend will now be safe." she smiles, but keeps a watch out the rear window for pursuers all the same.

Russell tries his damndest to keep some semblance of dignity while letting Martha care for him. If it kept her happy and helpful to be so attentive, he reckons it can be endured. At least he can suffer the embarrassment in still silence, because of course, he has no choice.

The Herald's second use of the word 'friend' trips him again. She is willing enough to attach it to him in front of another, and not just while they're alone.

The car speeds away into the night, the rythmic thumps of road seams like a metronome. Eventually the trio arrives a the Ridge Motel. Once the Kindred are content with Ethan's arrangements, Martha Villiers also returns to her own haven, taking care with multiple cabs to avoid any pursuit.
