Since the prince gave her the assignment Victoria has been dreading this moment, but now that things have slowed down for her she figured it was time to contact Arnoud and get the ball rolling. She picked up her cell phone and called.
*Ring*Ring*
Midway the seventh ring the phone is answered.
Arnoud answers with a single guarded word.
"Yes?"
"Mister Giessen. This is Victoria Stamford. Mister Clarke instructed me to contact you concerning the task that you were assigned. I'm to make contact with you and cooperate in completing said task."
Miss, Madam, Lady, Elder? Nobody used Lady anymore though, so no way he was going to use that over the phone. Especially considering the current level of pleasantries. I wonder if she is Invictus or Ordo.
"Madam Stamford. A pleasure to finally hear from you." Arnoud answered amicably to the point of wearing a smile he allowed to seep into his voice.
"My thanks for informing me of Mister Clarke's decision in this matter, Madam Stamford. You may consider me contacted though I would suggest that we reserve any further conversation regarding such matters, and your role therein, for a more appropriate setting."
Victoria answers in a business like tone, "I agree meeting in person would be best. Is there a time and place that works well for you?"
What, no pretense of niceties? That made it more likely that she was telling the truth and that she was the Ventrue Priscus. Then again, if Arnoud was impersonating a Ventrue Priscus he'd portray her exactly like this.
Without skipping a beat Arnoud continued, maintaining the friendly tone of voice.
"If it pleases you, madam, I believe there is. I will review my schedule and send word through a more traditional channel at my earliest convenience."
Victoria replied with a mild hint of annoyance in her voice, "Fine. Do not keep me waiting long. I would hate to have to explain to Mister Clarke who was responsible for any delays in beginning his task. Good evening Mister Giessen"
Arnoud resists the temptation to grind his teeth. He'd need to maintain the smile if he was to sound friendly. So instead he grabbed hold of what lay in his lap and twisted.
With a little imagination Arnoud manages to keep his smile on and his tone friendly.
"Oh, let's not fret needlessly, Madam. Have a pleasant night." Arnoud says before snapping his cell phone shut in one smooth motion, severing the connection.
