(1410) Ventrue Dread Lords and Ladies

"You may," Josephine replied, smiling broadly, genuinely, "and you shall not be disappointed on that account, Alder Prince Clarke. And yes, congratulations are in order for our dear Whip. I would not have been enraged nor saddened had you been chosen as Priscus, Madame Bingen," she continued, turning to regard the Dragon, "so it shall be a pleasure working with you to help ensure the health of our Clan and its reputation. Speaking of which, I would like to extend the same mandate that our former Priscus had proposed some months ago. Let us keep the most prominent gift of our Blood to ourselves, as it was intended to be. Do not teach it to any, lest you should earn the ire of your cousins."

Ashley nodded her head softly at Josephine's words, even though she knew the former Priscus was about to rescind that mandate. Ashley felt a strange feeling move through her, and it took her a moment to realize it was contentment. So very few evenings were win-win and it was a refreshing rarity.

"Understood." Ashley responded back to the Priscus of the Lords.

"Well said and well deserved, Ms. Sterling," Thomas smiles, claps his hands silently, bows his head to Ms. Bingen. The smile is for the fact that his hope has been actualized despite himself--that a Sanctified sits as Priscus of Lords bodes well for their blossoming Covenant, better than if they had a dozen other members without ambition or achievement. Thomas is Ventrue, yes, but he is Lancea Sanctum to the core, to the ounce, to the fiber of his being.

One success on the path to many--"The Second Estate" is first in the eyes of God, fifth in Sacramento Membership. Thomas will see it rise to its proper place in all aspects. His Faith knows patience, cunning, and commitment. His God cannot and will not fail.

Edwin simply grinned, glad that the issue had been dealt with. At least his fears had been averted. They had both a Priscus and a Whip. True, they both seemed as mad a box of frogs but still, that would only make things more fun!

"Congratulations," he finally added with complete and utter honesty, before agreeing not to pass on the gifts of their Blood to any outside of family.

Initially, Hildegarde was taken aback. She hid her confusion by raising a hand to her mouth and let the gaggle of voices wash over her.

"Very good," she said at last, "I support and applaud the Priscus' decision."

Lowering her hand she leaned back in her seat, contemplating what else the meeting had in store. Tonight she had learned a valuable lesson in just how far the Prince's power could reach.

"Excellent. Then at this juncture I would like to inquire whether there are any other concerns which might trouble the minds of my family. Please feel free to speak now or to request a private audience at your earliest convenience," Josephine said, black eyes roving once more over the assembled Damned which shared her blood. "If not, then I believe this wonderful will be at a close."

Asa nodded in subtle approval of the moratorium.

His eyes moved over each of the others as they gave their congratulations. He wasn't naive enough to think that the naming would sit well with all, but it bothered him little. If he were the one ceding the position, he could hardly let it go to just anyone.

And, perhaps, one of these nights, the possible malcontents woul understand.
