The Princess Haydee
Presence (Calmly Regal), Striking Looks (Ethereal Beauty)
The dressing up had taken time. A lot of time. But Martha felt it was worth it. Donning this costume was more than simply dressing up. Masks, she knew, often has a deeper meaning and she wanted to learn from the experience.
Without her cane, Martha hobbled unsteadily alongside Dillon... taking care to place each limping step. Obviously excited she coos and looks around at the various costumes in between blinking at the lights and noise of the club. Martha had taken every bit as much care as Dillon with the costume: elaborate cosmetics...the choker and ornaments...her long hair is now neatly styled; an unusual shade of vivid green and held in place by several moon mounted hairpins. Martha's long courtly kimono style silken gown has intricate patterns of vivid color in galactic patterns. Its sleeves extending over her tiny hands...whether this merely a cute affectation, or typical of higher status ladies, it is hard to say.
Wide eyed and sans her spectacles she is even more excitedly attentive to her surroundings. Staying close to Dillon, she often smiles at him and nods in graceful, timid and humble greeting to those whom she spots looking her way.
The Count of Monte Cristo
Presence (Icy Charm), Striking Looks (That Handsome Devil)
Dillon stays just behind and to the right of Martha as they make their way in, more concerned with remembering his character than gawking at the other fantastic costumes. He had to remind himself to admire everything at the Count would, for that is all part of the game.
The costume helps a great deal. Jet black, and broken up here and there by rich, vibrant patterns... in many ways the perfect dark counterpart to Martha's kimono style. Colored contact lenses simulate heterochromia, and pale blue paint airbrushed to his face and risks make the Gangrel look almost alien. Ironically, Monte Cristo's hatred and lust for vengeance drove away all positive emotion, and left a cold-hearted creature that many other characters compared to a vampire. The Japanese Anime adaptation, Gankutsuou, is a little more literal about this. Nevertheless, Dillon has always felt a great empathy for the character.
Making a quiet decision upon witnessing Martha's hobble, Dillon passes his golden scepter over her shoulder to use as an impromptu cane. He removes his top hat to shield his mouth, as his chin dips low to gently warn her not to use it unless she absolutely has to.
