Kiaden doesn't move, he just closes his eyes and takes it.
He doesn't believe for a second that anything [I] could make this worse. But then again, this was a staking, and not an ashing, but that may or may not even matter. Was there a glimmer of hope?
He imagined being in a huge, comfy chair in a study somewhere, smoking a cuban and periodically sipping on a bottle of brandy.

Resume narration posting, since Kaiden isn't resisting...
Conner drew back with his stake and delivered another blow into the heart, this time finding purchase in the center of the muscle. Conner looks up into the fading eyes of the now topered lording and then steps away, leaving the stake in the man's chest.
Conner says nothing just stands to his full height and steps aside for Ariana to see the deed is done.

Glad that Kesom didn't resist, Lance steps back and looks to the Regents. "Will you need any help removing the body Reeve Greyson? Harpy Donovan?"
"Thank you gentlemen for your assistance." Looking to Conner, Ricardo and then Ariana turned to Lance to answer his question. "If you would be so kind as to take it to the closet, it would be truly appreciated." Thankfully Conner did not puncture the chair.
Luckily, I did not need the stake, I could have broke a nail.
"You are welcome, Madam Donovan." Ricardo says automatically. He wasn't particularly formal or even engaged. The Mexican Lord tried to tell himself that this wasn't really so different from when he had held down the Daeva neonate for Alice to stake. In both cases, a neonate was staked because he didn't know the way things worked. But this was different. The staked neonate in this case was family. Plus, Ricardo was trying to help him. The Hispanic Lord remained quiet while the feelings of guilt and regret washed over him.
As the two deputies removed Kaiden's torpered corpse Conner could not help but wonder what his majesty would have said to Kaiden. "If I am no longer needed Priscus Donovan I will return to my duties." Conner says, gives her a head nod and returns to his office. Once in his office he takes a stake out of his desk drawer and replaces the one now embedded in Kaiden's chest.
