Two Warlocks walk into a Cafe...

The younger Warlock nods to the answer to his question. He himself isn't the most martial of people but even he would aid another of the Circle where he could in defense. As Mateus stated, he'd be next in a hostile takeover.

"Do you have any questions?" He doesn't want the man entering into this group blindly. Some things he could say here, in public, some he couldn't.

[Mateus]

Mateus eyes take the room around them. He couldn't ask many things but he could ask the basics.
"Well, I would like to know some things. For example how is ... the competition here? Do we live in dangerous times or it is, as far as you know, peaceful? How about groups inside our club? I would be interested to join a tight-knit group of similarly-minded people. Are there some areas of Sacramento 'off-limits' or 'better avoid' to someone like me, for any reason? Do I have to disclose to an official where I stay? Who should I contact in case I sense trouble? Who should I give my contact information to, in order for the club to notify me about jobs or tasks for me? Things like that. "

After the councilor replies, Mateus would add "So... would you need something more from me, Councilor?"

[Salem]

Salem is silent for a moment or two as he tries to figure out the best way to express this amongst the humans around them. None are close, certainly, but there's still a risk. He keeps his voice low as he responds, "There are dangers afoot. There always will be. We live in dangerous times. We don't know all of the dangers, but we know some of them. We are trying to make it safe for everyone. We have a diverse collection of groups in our club, some more than others. No places that I know of that are 'off-limits'. You don't have to disclose anything but if you want it to be recognized, you might want to. We have some people you can contact if there's trouble and there's a list of contacts at our meeting place."

He pauses for a moment, "I don't think so, Mr. Mateus. You seem quite capable and competent. Unless there is something you want or need to know first, I'd be happy to welcome you officially."

[Mateus]

Ah, so the official part of the meeting is over. Mateus smiles. "No, I don't think of anything else. I thank you for your time and the opportunity and I would like for us to work together in the near-future." He hasn't ordered anything, so there is no cup or spoon to take with him to avoid leaving sympathetic connections, in case enemies watch the councilor.
