The first ping of her phone was noted but not acted on. She had her hands full after all and that was the benefit of texts. They didn't require an immediate response.


The second was treated the same.


The third got a frown, small, but still a frown. The wrinkling of brow, the glance toward where her phone rested.


With the fourth came an exasperated sigh, the dropping of actions to reach for the phone.


Reading through, the frown stayed even if the cause of it shifted behind the scenes.


Tapping at the screen she sent a response.

"Yeah, I'd be up to join and give debrief. Just let me know when and where to meet."

One. One single contained response. One.


And then she went back to her work.
