NMYF: Aurora's apartment

Seriously?!

First it was taking shots in a public park. Now it’s fucking snakes in her loft?!

There were soo many questions, but first and foremost, that thing needed to go. But of course, it came right at her, and thankfully, missed.

Snake handler and wrangler she was not. And while she had magic that could in fact kill it where it was, she loathed using vulgar magic.

Eyes snap to Asclepius as she speaks, her loft wasn’t that big! And what was he going to do with a knife against a snake that she was pretty sure could kill them with a bite?!

Legs carry her into the kitchen area and if lucky, onto the counter. A good vantage point if she is able to make it. If he wasn’t able to get the snake, she would have to kill it herself.

Asclepius draws his knife as Aurora hops around the snake to make space and get some height on the counter top.


The arrows gut instinct that snake is commanded or controlled gains some traction as the deadly reptile immediately turns to follow the Sharman, rearing up a few feet ready to strike once again however is to slow to close the gap and attempt to bite once more.

He watched Aurora make her way with haste to her kitchen and jump up onto a table. Nice idea that will buy some time. Watching the snake make its way after her, confirmed in his mind that it had no interest in his presence currently, but it might soon enough.

Knife in hand now, he made his move to strike before it bite at Aurora a second time. He ran up to the table and attempted to stab the snake with the combat knife. He knew he might incur the wrath of the reptile but until a better solution was found, this would have to do.

Ok, so the counter was a good idea.

But it seemed the damn thing was still focused on her. Bad for her, good for her friend, unless it turned on him.

She didn’t like this, letting someone else handle her problem, it felt…wrong. She was the Master here, and she was hiding on a fucking counter.

He made contact with the knife, and seemed to do some decent damage to it. If the snake survived the attack, then he would not survive what she had in store for it.

If her fellow Shaman looks to her, he would she was struggling to control herself. The spells itched at her finger tips, wanting to be released, wanting to tear the snake apart. But…restraint. Her friend had the weapon, she did not. And the snake was focused on her, not actively hurting him, she could hold back for a second.

So she scans the area, were there any more snakes? Maybe a lizard? Or hell, spiders anyone?

The practiced swing of the arrow is enough to draw heavy bleeding from the lethal reptile but not slay it. The wound enough it seems to override any potential control or compulsion as the serpent turns hissing angry and launches out like a spring coiled tight at the knife wielding EMT.

He might be no master nor as nimble as the contortionist but he is able to using a combination of magic and grace avoid the deadly fangs of the furious serpent.

Aurora's still overwhelmed by the sheer magnitude of life within her apartment, her spell without restrictions picking up on the tiniest and most unobvious forms of life. Takes a look around the open plan apartment and nothing leaps out to her as out of place no additional serpents rushing to join the fray, no spiders clinging to the ceiling no assassin climbing over the balcony.

Looks like he felt that one. It was hard to hide the smile on his face, he had become the bigger threat. The silent bragging rights in his own mind that he was more dangerous then the master mage he accompanied, he did not care that it was from the perception of a snake. Seeing the serpent turn to him, he knew a bite was coming, he braced for it to land while he tried to move out of its path. Luckily the serpent has missed him. Looking up at Aurora, he could see she was still panicked and could not blame her. “You doing okay?”

Adrenaline was taking over as his training was kicking in. He seized an opportunity, the snake stayed right where he was and that's where he needed him. Knife in hand still he went for another strike at the snake.

She had to focus, had to get her senses in control. Panic was not her MO.

The spoken words might have done it, or maybe it was that she knew this was not her. This was not who she was or how she operated.

Shaking her head, taking a deep breath, she willed herself to fucking focus.

This was her fucking home. Home field advantage.

Wait!

She had her fucking sword! Sure, she usually swallowed it, but it was still a sword, it was still sharp it was still a weapon.

Eyes dart to the living room where the damn snake had come from, near the window where her equipment was, and there was the sword, resting against the wall.

Aurora’s action is to hop off the counter and move to where the sword rests against the wall and pick it up.

Aurora leaps from the counter to grab the sword she normally uses for performances arming self in time to turn and see the arrow slicing across the snakes coils and the reptile collapses in a twitching mess of seeping blood Asclepius having bested the serpent and cast it down to writhe in its death throes upon the floor of the apartment.

Aurora's movement almost startled him with is surprising occurrence. Maybe she felt she needed to move to get to a better position. It did not matter at present as he watched the snake die to his strike with the Knife. His built up adrenaline was keeping him from panicking himself as he knew that the snakes venom would be powerful to kill him easily. He jumped up with relief, and sighed deeply with bloodied knife raised into the air in a sort of victory pose. “It's done... I won... are there any more or are we all good?” His breathing a little heavy as he slowly calmed down from the rush he got. “Mind its head, I head they can still bite when dead. But we can worry about its disposal once we give It a good go over and the apartment as well of course.”

He sat down on the floor with knife still in hand as he scanned the room looking for anything unusual or something else hiding in wait.

Sword in hand, and planning to use it for not its intended purpose. Well, not what she usually used it for anyways. She moves over to where Asclepius and the snake were, ready to take some swings at the snake, only to find it dead.

Frowning, she lowers the sword, resting it along her leg.

Looking around the room with her spell, having not seen any others before, “I didn’t see any others before, but this spell has me seeing pretty much everything and it’s a bit overwhelming. Let me look again.” So she does, looking about the loft, turning in a circle, looking for any snakes, reptiles, spiders, anything that was not her and her fellow Shaman.

She admits. “Sorry, maybe it’s time I start to carry some wort of weapon on me. I was useless.” She had been useless in that, only remembering her sword when the damn thing had been dead.

“We should put it in a container to study it, well, the Glyph on it anyways, it might be the same as the one that was on the dart.”
