Good vs Evil

When history is so often the subject of disingenuous recording by the victors, when the terms have changed their meaning time an again over the ages and continents of the world. When you really know what evil is. These thoughts had flittered through his mind upon first becoming aware of this art particular display at the Sacramento fine arts centre. While not usually one for art he found himself seeking both inspiration for his work, a particularly curious request, and a desire to try and unpick such convoluted concepts so muddled as they are. And so having made himself presentable for such an occasion the man peruses the paintings, and sculptures and even a few snippets of poetry, quietly contemplating each in good order.

Walking around inside the arts center, last time she had visited the Crocker so had she surely been insulted beyond belief, nearly to the point of losing her temper something she could not let happen, not among so damn many breakable ones. Carefully watching the displays with great curiosity dressed in regular clothes. It was still relatively warm, at least to her hence she could wait a little longer before taking out the warmer clothes. Sleeves carefully down, make up covering most of her body to hide her tattoos and blend in with her skin to not be seen by anyone. Damn where were the blooded ones that needed a job, to hire one to do her harder to reach areas would make it so much easier.

Walking up to a painting with a curious little look, turning her head with a comparison, no she liked her own better, not that it was a real one which was a shame how it had been created for the written world but it΄s meaning still reverberated and was just as on point as these.

Keeping a watchful eye out over the people around her at all times, half expecting to either see that woman who she did not manage to talk as she wished to last they met or the man that she knew would have her bite down with all her might to keep civil, knowing fully well that she was just overly cautious but she did not want this time ruined as well, especially not in an element she felt good and on a display of things that did peek her interest.

There is no point trying to speculate on things within entirely your own thoughts to unravel a mystery you must first grasp how it is being understand currently. Ideally from many angles. Choosing a picture without to many around he strides up slowly, carefully and keeping his eyes on it gestures to the bystanders present with the wave of an arm at the edges of the depicted event. "What do you reckon are they responsible for evil?" He asks to the young woman nearest him. The hint of British accent discernible for those with an ear for it.

Lost in her own little world for the time being, looking around aware of the people around, the events spanning but not truly keeping tabs on the sea of strangers for more than how to make sure to not be in the midst of to many at the same time. About to walk past the picture as to not disturb the older man as his words suddenly freezes her solid, eyes closing with a deep breath to steel her nerves before spinning around to walk up next to him eyes locked upon the picture for a moment, carefully scanning it.
"Interesting question, in full earnest I do not know. It depends what evil is, some works can truly speak for their sake and make a display but many are just based on preconceived notions." Turning her eyes to the man, his accent registered more so from memory than discernibility, fully certain he would hear her Russian one though. "How far does the blame, how far does the evil go, if you are forced to commit an act that is conceived as evil by the general populous are you responsible for evil? You aid in spreading it but are you the culprit?" Turning to look upon the picture once more. "Even the coloration can be questionable, black and white, absence and everything, light and darkness, good and evil. Still the white raven on this events logo is a representation of flying scary death in certain cultures, so my question comes back to what is evil?" A low level of calm upon her, seeing no signs of the one man she did not want to meet, and she was surrounded by her own element, not her medium but her element at least.

Her accent was noticed but not commented on, where she was from, what her lineage only bore relevance to the conversation in so far as it might have informed her worldviews, much as the same applied to himself. "Forced to commit? An interesting choice of words." It was certainly possible to force others to bend to your will but what she spoke of was peer pressure. "Can society every force us to do anything? All actions have consequences, and society certainty places harmful or negative consequences on certain actions." A pause as he considers what exactly those actions could be. "But are we ever actually forced into doing them? Or are they chosen to be simply because it is easier to not suffer the consequences?" How often it is made easier to chose the worse action.

But he gestures once more to the bystanders. "But no what I refer to is the idea that it is evil to simply allow others to commit evil without interfering even though you believe what you are witnessing is wrong." The sin of inaction. The slow erosion of ethics and morality that lead to situations so much more compounded and dreadful then could be predicted by most.

Turning her eyes toward the man with a light gulp, internally biting down trying to keep herself calm and controlled.
"Yes forced to commit" looking around for a bit to find a painting including a knight "societal pressure, or social pressure is one thing but what off other kinds? Soldiers forced into battles not their own, a choice sometimes between death, torture, worse or even harm to those you love. Under those circumstances are people not forced to commit the acts?" Turning her eyes back to the man. "Even familial ties, how we were raised, honor, belonging, those who should protect us can sometimes force your hand to move to their whims." Waiting out his silence, leaving very little time before her own reply albeit with a tad fainter voice. "An interesting question, are we not? Granted no one can make you act if you profusely refuse." Or well nothing human. "Still if your loved ones will suffer, if you will be tortured, if you are basically a prisoner in all but name can you truly refuse? When the choice is the worst of the worst in contrast to be one who does the evil, otherwise is the act of taking a life always evil when the one who dies does not desire it?"

Looking out over the people around them.
"The one thing evil needs to win is for good to do nothing, still fear, jaded and apathy keeps many from acting." No matter how much she had helped, both in ways seen and unseen so was she still a part of the problem though. "We speak of morality, of being brave, or good, yet when the situation arises most turns tail, looks down, closing their eyes, to not be drawn in, to not invite trouble to themselves." Hesitating for a moment, softly moving her feet against the floor half on nerves, half a motion toward a stance. "Have you seen brown eye blue eye, with Jane Elliott?"
