~~Narration~~

Bacchus, Tug, Falx, and Orphan watch as a small projectile bounces down the stairs, landing on the landing of the switchback. Adrenaline hits the group as they recognize it.

What? This little thing?

Joshua, Brutus, and Teegan peer through the clearing smoke and smell of burnt rust, looking for their targets. The combination of smoke, and moving to avoid the door keeps the light from penetrating the depths of the room.

Bacchus jumps over the rail, trying to seek cover from the grenade, but twists his ankle on the landing and tumbles down the steps to the first floor switchback. At least he's safe from the blast.

"Shit!" Tug exclaims as he follows Bacchus over the rail, and also misses the landing.

Just for a split second, Orphan considers falling upon the grenade, but with everyone else having dropped (or tumbled below), he instead vaults over the railing, hoping Fate is on his side.

Unfortunately, this isn't the case, and he goes sprawling.

He then looks downward to avoid being blinded by the grenade.

His whole left arm is numb from the blow from the door, but the tingling is starting to fade, and Joshua can still flex it. If he gets through the day, his shoulder is going to bruise up something fierce, though.
Good thing he's right-handed.
He lurches up off of the floor and presses his back to the wall, wanting to keep clear of the doorway--no sense in making a big target out of himself. Again. Now that the door is out of the way and the smoke is clearing, he cranes his neck a bit, trying to make out any new details. He waits.

The concussion grenade detonates, filling the upper stair well with smoke, a blinding flash, and deafening thump. Fortunately, the four Arrows are far enough down and not within the blast pattern to be affected.

As Joshua, Brutus, and Teegan hear the explosion, they hear a scratchingscraping noise coming from just inside the door, then a nearly imperceptible slinkt of metal sliding on metal.

Joshua frowns. What is that sound? He holds his breath, trying to hear more, trying to place that noise...

Brutus backs up the stairs, and trains his pistol on the door. He fades into the shadows, away from Teegan's light, and watches.

[Rosyn]

Teegan keeps the light and her weapon on the door but backs away, trying to conceal her body behind what cover is available in the process.

One of her hardened hands moves off the metal off her gun, just far enough to start performing the Mudras required for a rote.
