Animus jumps slightly at the sudden vibration as his phone goes off. A few seconds later he flips it open. "Hello?"

"Hello, Animus. I had an unusual question for you."
"I was thinkin' of schedulin' a trip to Bell. Is it still clear?"

|

|

|

Panic briefly flares through the Thyrsus, before vanishing just as quickly. Already? We're nowhere near in position. Guess we'll have to make due.
"The building's clear." May you never have to deal with what we faced in there.

"Why you know, that sounds like excellent news to me!"
"Animus, I want to thank you for the work you do for us. I really appreciate it. You keep well, okay? Bubye now!"

Ruby's cheeriness throws Animus off balance, and he just barely manages a forced "Bye" before the call is disconnected.
A thought comes unbeckoned from a darker corner of his mind. Is it an act, to cover over what happened?
