Graveyard shift, cont.

Returning from his survey of the alarm system, ready to congregate with the others about exactly how to proceed, Henry notices Jordan and the closet of paper print-outs.

"Good work," he says simply. "Start on ****," roughly 4 days before Starling was last seen, "and go up to ****." The day Henry went to Starling's apartment. That did leave quite a gap in time, though. Without waiting any further, Henry started to list what he knew of Starling's appearance : Height, eye/hair color, preference in clothing, and so on. Enough to hopefully narrow the search to one single file. And really, just how many unidentified bodies could possibly show up in that timespan? Probably more than you think, the curmudgeon part of him answers.

"On it." replied Jordan, who moved in to start scanning files based on the time parameters that Henry identified, bearing Starling's physical characteristics in mind.

Finding the righgt file should only be a matter of time. Research roll instructions? Working to finish before Consilium.

Possibly... knowing you have the right file is quite another question. For future reference, going to an indigent cemetery and looking for a singular John Doe is... silly. In the interest of time and plot, we'll say that a couple of hours and a liberal dose of Fate produces Starling's file.

Even with the advantages visited by the Library of Time, it took a couple of hours to weed through the records. Narrowing down the dates then comparing the physical descriptions took effort and attention. But finally, the tired-eyed scholar came up with a coffee-stained manila folder.

He stretched a couple of complaining muscles and said:

"Henry! This should be it."

[Ariadne]

Ariadne jerks at Jordan's voice. "Huh?" Red hair twirls as she shakes her head. "Should have brought a book." Her blue eyes focus on the envelope.

"Time to leave?" She asks looking at her phone. Hopefully no one here likes the early shift.

Henry spends the time trying to help Jordan as best he can, even though the Mysterium man is somehow just faster parsing through those records. He makes sure everything is as they found it. Last thing he wants is the place to go even more secure for absolutely no reason.

"Yeah, time to go." He takes a look at his watch. Dammit. "Make double-sure it's what we want, then we're out of here. We'll have to come back another time if something is missing." Even if he didn't relish the thought of coming back to potentially dig up a corpse, at least they had a reasonably certain answer.

On the way out, Henry says, quietly, to Ariadne, "Sorry for not doing this the more proper way. Work in this place has a way of sneaking up on you. Have to make do with 24 hours in a day." In an almost-whisper, he adds, "Consilium meeting soon. Proper introductions there?"

Jordan followed the Guardians out, after wiping down some with a handkerchief. That's what he got for not bringing gloves with him. But in truth, he never knew what would happen in one of his outings with Henry.

"I imagine you'll get the file to the Curator?" he asked Henry and Ariadne.

Henry nods, still headed out. "With Consilium so close, it'll wait until after. Give everyone time to adjust, and figure out Consilium matters. Then give the information about her assistant." There was also the small matter of how the man had died.

"Do you want to be there when I show her?" It's not clear who the question is addressed to. Going to have to brief the new girl on Starling. And the other happenings in the city. Oh, joy.

[Kelreth]

"Ok" She says with a halfhearted smile. Work in 3 hours...ugh

"Just leeeet me know where it is." She says with a yawn.

[Sherrinford]

Jordan shook his head.

No, I don't think so. This is your investigation, Henry. Best leave it a Guardian discovery. I only helped run through paper anyway. Keep me as an anonymous resource."
