Animus watches out the window for a moment as the Neidan drive toward the bridge. He wracks his brain for a conversation topic, anyhing to take his mind off his guilt at not being with the bridge group. Finally settling on something, he turns back to glance between West and Ankh in the front seat. "How is Kai doing, anyway?"

West half-turned in his seat, so he could look back while he spoke.
"Kai is up in Baltimore... we left there, with some cleaning up that still needed to be done. He... has a friend, up there," he explained.
Well, we both do -- Uriel... but March is a friend friend.

Ankh watches the road and tries not to glance at Animus through the rearview at the question.
"I have not heard from him since he left. How do you know they got Falx?"

|
|
"Text message. Someone shipped a piece of his flesh to the Circle." Should've known it'd wind back to our current problems.

Ankh nods, yes she had gotten the message but she wasn't sure what it had meant. She should have looked into it. Guilt knaws at her stomach and she suddenly wishes she hadn't eaten so fast.
"Do we know what the situation at the bridge is?"

|
Animus starts to shake his head before realizing that Ankh probably isn't looking his way. "No clue. All I got was 'SOS at river docks', cyphered. Which probably means he thought the message might be intercepted."

"River docks?" West asks curiously. "What the hell is he doing there? The only public access docks are in Courtland and Elk Grove... or Miller Park..."
This is, by the way, a subtle pointing out that associating
'river docks' with 'Tower Bridge' is metagaming.

|
Animus shrugs. "Last I spoke with them, they were planning to try to rent a boat. I know it sounds odd, but there were specific points on the bridge that stood out, knots in the spells where they were more potent -- all at the top or bottom of the bridge. And by boat seemed the easiest way to get a closer look. Maybe they ran into trouble at the marina?"

Animus feels his phone buzz and finds a new message. "Zilker's got the marina covered. We should go see how Tug's holding up."
|
|
|
|

|
"Yeah," West replied in a somber tone.
"I think it's time to do something about that damn Kruegan's sanctum," he added, adding a rare curse word. With Joshua Morris gone, he reviewed the Arrows he had available; if the city erupted in open war, things were going to become difficult.
West motioned for Ankh to head to the Circle before continuing, "So what have you been doing since the whole thing with the Ananke?"
