A curious look to Mary, “Really? Is that where they got the idea?” chuckling, “Not gonna lie, makes sense.” But at the mention of abstract art, “I might have to disagree with you on that abstract art thing, though abstract isn’t something I generally enjoy, I would hardly call anything from the 80s art.” But that was just her.

“Personal tailors are a necessity in my opinion. Mine is excellent at getting me to try new and exciting things with fashion. If I need a suit to make a statement, she never lets me down.” Same with dresses.

“Jacket patches? Like the iron on ones? Those aren’t that bad, a good way to express yourself.” Would she wear any? Probably not.

Nodding to Jenn, “It certainly was. And seeing the way living shifted from the 70s to the 80s quite a stark contrast. I always found it fascinating how the eras each have found ways to leave their mark.”

"The 80's were a helluva ride," she nods in agreement. Nibbles her skewers. Even if it was odd to have missed a portion of the decade and come back to the world of tomorrow. "And I don't know Sofia. I can't really think of anything else where shoulder pads are practical," she shrugs as he wasn't sure. Very strange at times, with the whole, oh. "Oooooh!" She smacks the side of her head as she recalls the BIG message of the 1980s "Bigger is better was the 80s. Cars. Hair. Shoulders. That was the fad. Shame about the future tech predictions being false. Could'a been fun times."


Then nods, "I agree on the art art front. Won't say any shit about Aerosmith or their rivals though," those were musicians though. Not artists. Good musicians but still not artists.


She finishes off her skewers and then shakes her head, munching away at the patches. "Sewn moohn," she swallows it down, "Sewn on patches first. If ya wanted them to last longer, ya had to sew them on first before ironing them in. Or ya'd just hafta stick with dry cleaning."


Circe was fascinated she had that knowledge. Something drawn out from Before by this conversation? This was a positive looking night then.


And Sofia brings up the changing of the decades. It was probably a fascinating concept to consider, though she doubted the mortals would see the difference as she did. Missing a couple of decades. Portable phones for Circe were a 3 lbs. brick when she was taken, but then were the height of flip phones with the touch screens just starting to be commonplace.


Yes, Circe doubted the two mundies here would understand seeing time skip by, the world evolving without you. "Yes," she nods in agreement, "The world was cured of disco fever, only to catch a band of big hair, oh ho ho ho. Not to mention the whole phone addiction thing these days. Hmmm something, something else," she thinks for a moment, trying to recall something.


"Amusement factor of cell jammers making anyone not over 40 freak the fanculo out? No, nope," she shakes her head. She starts humming as she puzzles at what popped into her head. Trying to see it through the fog of theoretical violent acts.


"Ah!" She realizes what it was. "Red Hot Chili Peppers, Dani Cali," Circe smiles at the seeming non-sequitur word vomit. "Great music video ta illustrate fashion changes through the decades. The does and don'ts."


Well, that was her opinion.

[Jennifer Hazelton]

"Yeah, personal tailors are essential.
"Are we talking about the applique patches on jean jackets?" Jennifer clarified. "I found those to be unique." Her Cursed voice slithered. Jennifer took a moment to review how she was speaking and endeavored to match Mary's style more closely.
"My mother grew up as an oldest girl, and her mother was traditional. She was taught to embroider and visibly mend with creative embroidery. I like how it looks."
An answering nod to Sophia. "Marks that generations down the line bring back, from music to the styles.

"Like the big hair." A nod towards Mary.

Laughing, “I almost forgot about the hair! Kind of makes me wish I had bought stock in hairspray then!” she was already rich, but it would have been a good investment. “As for the whole shoulder pads having other uses, maybe for a costume? For Halloween or something.” Could use it to make yourself appear bigger or an odd shape.

“Aerosmith had some good stuff in the 80s, but I think they bumped it up a notch in the 90s.” at least in her mind.

“Some of never learned the fine art of sewing. So any I had, I had to have a friend sew for me.” Not that she had any.

“Was the world really cured though? I’ve heard talk there are still some die-hard disco lovers out there. They even have some clubs here and there.” Then an eyeroll, “I will never understand the phone addiction trend. Don’t get me wrong, I love my cell phone, but looking at it all day is just something I will never understand. And I have a business I run.” It was just beyond her. But she did understand how to use it, a Kindred who doesn’t adapt to technology was a pile of ash.

“The name sounds familiar, the band. But can’t say I’ve seen the music video; I’ll have to give it a look then.”

Nodding to Jenn, “I think so, though they’re used on leather jackets as well. Not sure if those were as big in the 80s as the jean ones though. Maybe the same technique for both?” come to think of it, one would want to sew on leather…right?

“Creative embroidery?” clearly not knowing what it was, “Seems I’m learning a bunch of new shit tonight!” chuckling as she said it.

“You know what,” looking to Jenn, “I might have to throw a themed company party. Maybe title it the Era’s, have people come dressed in their favorite music era.” Might be fun.

"Sooooo much hair," she laughs as it is brought up, "Ya'd have made a mint Sofia," she agrees with that.


As for Aerosmith and bands getting better, Circe nods. "The bands that kept going did seem to get better into the 90s." Though she can think of another reason for that, "Probably ditched the cocaine," which wasn't an entire joke She does recall documentaries about bands improving after getting clean.


She smirks in pride looking at Jennifer. She had a cool voice no less, "Well, Jennifer, I approve of your mom's craftiness, oh ho ho ho," then shrugs, "It is a useful skill, fixing fabric or leather. Though having minions sounds fun Sofia. And leather can add patches via steam too," she acknowledges this. She'd seen it enough to confirm it was true. "Denim was more popular though in the 80s. Less steps to steam onto than leather, cheaper, so more bought and popularity increased."


Leather though? That was always in style on the street. A little protection for a brawl was better than no protection.


"I have to use the phone for work too," she admits freely to Sofia. "Camera and texting is a gift for troubleshooting, makes it so much easier." That was an understatement. As for the addiction part? Oh wait, she remembered a good answer from the big red guy. "Marketing and easily excited idiots given ready access to casino style games and digital shit gets them more dopamine access. Uh, then dopamine is incasinato," Circe shakes her head. "Well, that explanation from South Park's Satan does a better job explaining addiction to mobile apps and casino machines quite well. They are trying to get ya addicted to them."


"The Chilli Peppers were a pretty famous band for a while," she pauses to think about how to summarize. "Simpsons had them. They were in good shape too, went out rocking six packs on stage in their underwear," Circe approved of it.


As for the fashion party, that sounded enticing. "That is a creative idea Sofia," she can hear them even if it is private. "Daft Punk has the best headwear for sure, almost tempted to try working for you just to attend."
