Ah Samhain, the Celtic new year and festival for the dead. The time the living wear masks to disguise themselves from the shades of the dead that walked this night. The mix of occult and academic lore surrounding the festival, running through his mind.

If anything could tempt something supernatural into careless behaviour surely it would be this night.

And what do these shades want … the living of course … which is why this necromancer has donned his costume as a lord of undeath and gone where the people and hopefully the ghosts of the dead will be.

He’d forked out for the VIP ticket, what’s the point in having the money to finance these little expeditions and open doors if you aren’t going to, but for now he hangs around the forrier with his complimentary drink, gauging the atmosphere and seeing who/what catches his interest.

In the end she went with autumnal.

There were still elements of the other themes tucked into her costume of course. She was who she was after all. But the casual glance, and even the third should it happen, showed merely a forest witch of the Fall.

Showing her ticket, the base for her, she entered into the Grand Ballroom. The music had already filled the air and as guests continued to arrive, the sound of their chatter merely began to fight it for space.

She knew she had a drink ticket included, but first ... she wanted to wander. To enjoy the sights of costumes and let herself settle into the space.

The Savage had agreed to go out tonight, and she wasn’t sure why she agreed. Partying, dancing and being an extrovert was not her thing.

But Jenn wanted to go out, and she agreed to go as well.

As for a costume, she thankfully still had some Steampunk gear from a Court years ago. And of course, everything still fit perfectly. The costume had been tailored and designed for her and her body. It hadn’t been cheap, and she was secretly excited to wear it again.

Gabriel drove her in the Aston, and she had of course, gotten VIP tickets for her and Jennifer Hazelton . Jenn’s had been left at the house and a text had been sent letting her know. The Ghoul wasn’t dressed up as anything, but still had a nice suit on as he opened the door for Ale. He would return at a predetermined time to pick her up.

No makeup had been applied to hide the tattoos that showed, and her skin had a warm look and feel to it, though she was still a bit pale. But hey, not everyone sunbathed.

First things first, she wanted a drink. The music, lights and crowd were, well, a lot. And a drink would make mingling easier, or so she hoped. Being social wasn’t her strong suit, but she was a Savage, she was a Prince, she was the queen of the crime world here and dammit, she could be social.

People flowed in laughing, chatting and having a good time. Chambers watches the crowd, well as he can through the thin mesh covering his eyes, as he moves between the party goers. Nothing particular drawing his attention.

Until he, along with several others in the crowd, almost subconsciously step aside to allow a woman, who caries authority in her stride like it was built in, to pass. She catches his attention, most notably the tattoos.

He had heard of some awakened using tattoos in casting, if he himself was unfamiliar with the application of the art. Before awakening it wouldn’t have mattered, but now any potential link, anything that might be unravelled piqued his interest. So, why do sleepers mark their bodies? Well, no time like the present.

Falling into the wake the woman left, he catches up as she gets a drink.
‘Nice ink.’ His usual greeting smile partially visible under the face plate. ‘what’s the symbolism behind them, if it’s not to forward to ask?’ Broaching conversation almost felt like talking to the dean, something you don’t do causally.

After receiving her drink, a French 75, she turns to the voice and question.

“Grazie.” Says the Italian, giving her attention to the mummy, before taking a drink, “Not forward at all,” it was a common question, asked numerous times over the years, “and the answer depends on which one. But the simple answer is each one has a story and symbol to it.” She knew not every one was visible, “Is there one that you curious about?” there were times she wondered about making a diagram and handing it out for such questions.

Dark eyes wait for a reply as she studies the mummy, "Any ink yourself?"

It was hard to miss the arrival of Sofia. The only parts of the crowd that didn't react were the far corners.

Unsurprising, she was already being approached, but it seemed like the rest of the patrons were content to wait and see if the mummy was accepted or eaten.

Grinning, she figured she might as well add to the potential show. Approaching the duo in time to hear Sophia's question, she merely lifted a hand in greeting, letting the mummy answer.

With the question seeming to have gone over well, he relaxes a little and loosens shoulders he hadn’t, till that moment, noticed had stiffened.

Under the mask eyes dart over the tattoos he can see, but chambers finds himself indecisive. ‘Just general curiosity, do you have a particular favourite?’ The strong accent of his conversation partner, seems to pull his own British articulations to the fore.
This way I don’t accidently ask about one that represents someone’s death or some such.

Pushing the mask up a little, it can be seen he’s painted his nails gold to match the bracers. He sips his own drink, a flying dutchman, before pulling it down again.

‘Myself? No.’ A shrug, and a timely pause as someone he knows joins them. Well, she’s certainly on theme tonight. Caught in a moment of thought. I wonder if it’d be fun to clamp down on the accent and see if she notices? No unnecessary. His decision to forgo the deception rendered mute as Witch waves in greeting, he assumes rightly or wrongly to him. Before he finishes his response. ‘I wouldn’t even know where to begin trying to represent something from my life. I’d almost certainly end up getting something I’d regret latter.’ And given the impermanence of skin, I find it a poor medium for recording things of note.

The mask turns to Witch. ‘Hey, pleasant surprise to see you, having a good night so far.’ The easy smile kind of obscured by the teeth on the bottom edge of the mask but still visible.

While there was nothing to really draw the eye to the woman who also approached, for Ale, it was the fact that she did. The greeting was returned with an inked hand and a nod, “Evening.” It was a weird feeling, having someone just randomly approach you when in Court, it was forbidden.

“An unusual question.” Not one she was used to, but she’d play along. “Well, if I had to pick one,” there were too many to really settle, “I would go with the portrait of Beethoven.” Which could slightly be seen on her upper thigh, though most of it was covered by her stockings.

“Life’s too short for regrets, live in the moment, get the ink.” A wink at the end. “All joking aside, I see your point, though these days it’s fairly easy to have something removed should you not want it. And it is a big commitment.” And not everyone was ready for that.

An inked hand brings her glass to her lips for another sip, “And what of you, any opinions or thoughts on ink?” not the most interesting topic if you’re the only one with them.

“Surely my tattoos are not the most interesting topics, tell me about your costumes!” maybe that was a bit more fun.

Witch blinked in surprise. She knew that voice. Chambers.

Of all her fellow Awakened, he was not top of the list for seeing out and about at a Halloween party, but apparently the robes really were just for the Circle.

"Hey- I didn't recognize you in the-" she made a gesture at her face, indicating his mask and costume. "But yeah- I can't complain too much. Seems like a successfull event for the organizers."

She nodded to the drink in his hand and in Sophia's "How are the drinks?"

She noted Sofia's quiet greeting, and for a moment she wondered if the woman didn't recall her from their earlier encounters. Or maybe she ... oh gosh ... had she stepped on toes? Was Sofia and Chambers ... oh dear. Perhaps it was time to start looking for an out on the conversation.
