[Saber Sloth]

The waitress came and went once again dropping off the rest of their order, grinning when Sonnie digs in, and leaving them to their game night plans.


"Yeah we got a picture of him," Colin snaps out before Elena can stop him, and flips through the photos that Sera and brought, pulling out the shot with Matty's grey hoodie sleeve pushed up and his arms circled with a stark black sharpie.

"Colin." Elena sighs, trying to grab the photos before their 'leader' throws them at the Lost. While Jason reaches into a pocket and pulls out his wallet, and retrieves a freshly printed picture of their missing friend. Matty. His figure presents a wiry build, and his face makes you think 'kid' even though you know he couldn't be. Contrary to what Circe and Sonnie would remember of Matty, he's not hunched over, or snivelling, in fact it looks like he's got some...stains of his Grey Hoodie, and a slit lip made worse by the grin he's wearing, but in the camera's view he's holding up a single, pointy, tooth. "S'the most recent photo we had of him." looking down before handing it over to the Lost, "Thought that would help."

Wits+Inverstigation if you're looking at the pics, or Perception (remember Clarity) if you just want to be aware of what might be happening. Primarily visual for both rolls, but Sonnie could Beast's Keen Senses if you want to try and get something that way - but you might also just get normal pub scents.

Also, if you want to do a quick check you can roll Int + Occult to see if you know what that tooth might be

This aspect of detective work didn't suit Circe. She was a Larcenist gunbunny Smurfette, not some clockwork dick. So she'd just keep a wary sense set for what is going on in the bar. Let the Springs show off their skills in that area. HOpefully they would note aught that she did not.

Munching on some fries, Sonnie's eyes were carefully focused on Jason as he reached into a pocket. However, it was only to retrieve a wallet. After that, she looked at the photo of Matty, noting his skinny, babyfaced appearance. While she wasn't much of a detective, she did have an eye for detail. Sometimes, it was good to exercise her mind more than her animalistic senses.

Did Sera want to reply with something snarky?

Yes.

But she didn’t, trying to tell herself that he was worried about his friend and taking it out on them. Still not ok, but she understood.

Then a grateful smile to the offer of a picture, “Thank you.” Taking a look at it, having to smile faintly at how, well, happy he looked with the tooth. “I know this is difficult, but were you guys always together? Did he ever go off on his own? And if he did, do you know where?”

She tries to study the picture, gain any idea or detail that might help. But her mind seemed to be blank.

Scanning the picture, the tooth draws the Lost's focus. Circe and Sonnie had been to the Nexus where masks fall and the truth will out, and Sera has once been Heart Sworn to the Dead Lord, to some the knowledge might be practical and the other theoretical but to all three they know that savagely elegant, needle point fang. One word comes to mind. Vampire.

With Sera's mind reeling from the revelation that these hunters had defanged - and possibly killed - a vampire, she misses what Sonnie and Circe catch. Between the two pictures of Matty the eyes are very different. In the photo that the Grey Hoods provided Matty's eyes are a muddy sort of hazel. But in the one they'd taken from the freezer unit, they're a strange sort of green, and there's something familiar about that green.

Colin's about to open his mouth to snark at Sera, but a look from David has him grimacing. "Only as much as we wouldn't drive each other completely fuckin' bat shit. Plus we have lives. Outside of this." David says, pulling on a sleeve of his grey hoodie. "He could have been snatched anytime then." he continues, "Can't remember if we told you or not - probably not -" looking at the others, "We had a strategy meeting night before, and then a...agreed breakfast meeting the next morning. 'Cause of this Frankie fuck, but he didn't show. We've been over his place couldn't find anything. Nothing looked weird. Or outta place. So, we don't know if he was taken from his place or outside of it."

"I thought we said we wouldn't -"

"Think we're beyond hiding where we live from these...ladies." it's Elena who cuts off Colin this time.

They're Glamour green, reminding the Lost of Harvesting, stepping through a Trod, and walking the Hedge.

Vampires.

She knew they existed. She'd met a few, at that Nexus place, a couple years ago. They seemed nice enough, for blood-drinking corpses, though the monkey in her was always wary of predators. Same went for the werewolves. The wizards she was less sure about, but one had suddenly exploded that night, and after that Sonnie had noped out of there and never returned.

She eyed the image of the fang with distaste, but then...

Sonnie looked at Circe and Sera, to see if either noticed this. She didn't want to say anything to the Hunters about it just yet. They'd probably take it badly, especially Colin.

A vampire fang? That gets a raised eyebrow and a nod of approval from Circe. Yeah yeah, vampires fed on people just like the Lost did, blah blah blah. The Lost fed on excess emotion, not flesh. Call her a food snob, but it didn't seem as bad being an emotional parasite instead of a leech.

"Ah! Uuuuh, hmmmm, beh, merda." She shakes her head, "Thought I had somethin' there fer a second. Sorry I got nothing useful," she sags. The Hoodies were hunting monsters, so she'd probably seen that shade of green in her own package of disguise stuff for contact lenses. That could explain it. A shade she'd used before and thus seen in the mirror. Totally makes sense.


"Yer friend doesn't strike me as the cowering sort," she muses though the tone indicates something obvious to most. Respect. "Unless Frankie has a chemistry background for sharing bad gas, I'd guess Matty would have done a lot of damage saying no."


And honestly, that was the truth for Circe. If Frankenstein had a chemistry background, that could narrow it done a little. Maybe. Damn you Google. "Don't suppose Matty had a smart phone? Might be able ta reverse GPS it, with a little finger magic."


Because detective and bloodhound weren't her thing. Guns, coffee, and computers were. The last could apply.

[Seraphina]

Conversations with Rhodes and basic knowledge flooded her mind at the sight of the tooth. Well, fang. Vampire fang. She’d never come across one in her years, but there were tales, passed down from Lost to Lost, friend to friend.

Did the group kill a Vampire? And did their friend take a souvenir? Sapphires look to Sonnie and Circe, did they see what it was?

A nod, “Oh, of course. I just know there are some who share houses and apartments and all that.” Roommates if you will. “So sometime between those meetings is when he went missing.” An understanding nod. “Was he the type to go off on his own? I’m just trying to establish a timeline of where he was and where he would have gone after. Somewhere between those places is where we should look.” Not everything or everyone would take someone from their house. But walking home was a viable option.

To Elena, “I wouldn’t ask you where you lived, that’s a level of trust I don’t believe you have with us. I’m just trying to figure out a location to search. So I’ll leave it to you all to decide if sharing where he lived is something you want to share.” She wouldn’t push it. “But a general location could help.” Or not. She didn’t know, this wasn’t something she usually did.

Circe had an excellent idea, and there was a nod, “That would be super useful as well.”

[Saber Sloth]

A finger taps the fanged photo, "Closer to Fresno than here, so you don't need to worry about you're pretty neck." a smirk, then a scowl, "Of course Matty would'a fucked that freak up!" Colin shouts, the tables near them turn to look, and the Grey Hood sneers at them, shifting in his seat. Elena smacks him again, while David grabs a shoulder and keeps him firmly seated.

"We tried with his phone, but none of us are tech savvy - Matty's are tech dude. But we couldn't find it at his place, or 'round his place. So either he still has it. Or it's been ditched." Elena answers Circe.

"We're not roommates, maybe that was the problem. This is the address for Matty's apartment." Jason basey voice explains, snatching up a napkin and pulling out a pen from a pocket. He scribbles down the address, and pushes it forward next to the fang'd photo. "Dunno's if there's anything there. We didn't find anything and nothing seems outta place, but we're not - " he tries to arch a brow but hasn't mastered that skill so, both of them fly upward, but his meaning is clear; magic. "When he's found," he starts, "He's not gonna move back into this place. So, don't bother remembering the address for longer than needed to, help."

You remember that it was Colin, and Matty that could see passed the Mask.

It seemed not. Neither Circe nor Sera shared her look.

Deep thinking was not her strong suit, but Sonnie tried, nonetheless, to figure out what this could mean. She had to, as no help would be coming from the Fairest. Something tickled the back of her brain, something about Matty, something she tried to recall.

There it was. The memory resurfaced. Matty could see their Miens. She never cared for a normie being able to see her simian features. Made her feel weird, like a freak. It was the whole reason that, even now, she had hardened her Mask, to prevent...

Matty wasn't here. The reinforced Mask was for... Colin's eyes.

She blinked and looked at the Hunter. Colin could also see her Mien. He'd been vocal (and prejudiced) about it before.

The Beast's expression creased into suspicion. The discussions fell away, her ears paying next to no attention to the noise. Her focus was on Colin.

Quietly, slowly, she walked over to the Union thug. She made no aggressive moves, just stepped up to him, staring right into his eyes. Like she was searching for something.
