PRELIMINARY REPORT: FORTEN INVESTIGATION
People were being found dead after being fed on by vampires. Bodies were bloodless and had cat hair on them. Stakeouts revealed a cryptid looking like a cat and a vampire following it with a body bag.
Cat and vampire were ambushed and captured in a trap near the Feather River homeless encampment with the help of Jennifer Hazelton's herd. Deaths stopped after this for the time being.
THE CAT
Literature suggests the cat maybe a sort of familiar, like the one witches have. It can apparently be called to places and recalled by its handler, who feeds it fish and seems to use the cat to collect something from the bodies.
Life force, maybe. It was interrogated by Mable wood and gave a description of its handler. It also stated that Forten was still calling it. Might be able to recognize vampires. Summoned by Forten ?
ANGELA CORNWELL
The vampire, Angela Cornwell, is a hired hand who was following the cryptid and also responsible for sustaining a ghoul called Lottie.
She's a hired investigator and thinks the cat can identify vampires. She also brought the name of Matthew Forten into play. He and his network are what the investigation is about by now. She also thinks Forten and his folks
burned down some haven earlier. It might be the one that Jake, Sanchez and Clark were in as it was torched. She has been reported dead in 2005 and has a brother, Antony Cornwell and a daughter, Kolina Cornwell.
Angela Cornwell is currently in the custody of Jennifer Hazelton.
LOTTIE
A ghoul that seems to be important for Fortens work. Real name Ashea. Is at least slightly forensically trained. Was not created by Forten or Angela. She drives a black 2018 Honda Civic.
MICHAEL FORTEN
Forten appears to have a degree in humanities from Johns Hopkins and was arrested in Baltimore for disability benefit protests. He is involved with coalitions for the homeless, here as well as in Baltimore. Apparently there is an active facebook page.
Police questioned him on the disappearance of some young woman and he owns a company called Bonne Nuit LLC that has existed at least since 2012. Forten is no vampire and works with several others, one of which, another Forten, might be an alias or a relative.
He dresses pretty flashily and was spotted in the VIP section of the Rapture nightclub. Apparently he also has students he uses a warehouse to train them. A mage perhaps ? Could he have summoned the familiar, as Mr Baker suggests ?
Forten has a valid California ID that checks out so far, the listed address is a front and not used by Forten.

Met by Milton Northbridge in the Wrangler. Seems to know Angela.
BONNE NUIT LLC
Bonne Nuit LLC owns a parking garage that was already examined, nothing extraordinary. They were in the news lately for a manager called Teddy Hernandez going to jail over illegal tours for a prospective buyer, has done his time and is currently employed by Parkview Industrial Industries.
Mr Heinrich is currently looking into this. They also own a soup kitchen a warehouse at [address] and the Rapture nightclub. The address of the soup kitchen is unknown, Mr Heinrich is in contact with a reporter called Rennick who is
looking into a wrong address for the kitchen.
ANTIQUE SHOP
The antique shop owned by a Michael Forten. The building lease is legitimate. It looks like the shop is a also having auctions of undetermined time or topic that seem to be exclusive to a special group of clients.
Simone Perez reports something about velvet bags. A password or recognition token maybe.
Mariposa Sanchez also reports other persons:
-> A large man called Hal, apparently a sort of bodygard for Forten.
-> An asian man who seems to be able to move too quick to follow in an altercation in some alley. He visited the shop at least twice a month and was difficult to shadow.
-> A dark-haired white woman, who is also difficult to tail and also visits the shop at least twice a month. Sanchez and co. were able to track her to an apartment complex at [address]. but lost her in the parking lot.

Forten was seen here in the VIP section. Owned by Bonne Nuit. Maybe Fortens base of operations ? A spreadsheet of Bonne Nuit yielded another name, Gilian Keibler.
THE WRANGLER
A bar near one of the murder sites. Milton Northbridge met a man called Roderick Singer there who seemed to know Angela.
WAREHOUSE (ADDRESS)
Owned by BN. Some sort of training camp for Fortens pupils ? Declared off limits for now until we know more.
TASKS
Edward Heinrich: Looking into Forten, Hernandez and keeping in contact with Rennick and the Buzz.

RECENT DEVELOPMENTS
A kindred called Logan Howell was pulled into a silver older model Honda with the license plate 4ABC132 about three blocks south of Nox. After being doused in something that smelled like gasoline, he was ordered to give up stolen blood or he would be immolated. He was then hooded, someone took blood and he was then tossed out onto the street.
Maybe that's how Lottie gets her fix now. Any case, we seem to have stepped on some toes, the fuckers have become pretty bold or desperate.
