[Phoenyx]

Although the two mages seem concerned about Phoenyx, she seems unaffected by the apparent sadness of her story. "Yes! I look forward to it." Corn was given a small nod. "I have had many experiences since coming here and made several friends. I hope that they continue."

She looks thoughtful as Aurora tries to break it down. "Hmm. I suppose. Losing could certainly be seen as submissive." She shrugs a shoulder and heads back to the table.

With Corn's help they soon get set up, and she breaks.

Between Corn's poor fortune and the fact that she isn't wasted (yet), the Arrow starts well sinking a couple of stripes early on. She smiles, looking pleased. "I suppose I will not have to chase you through any dark alleys yet," she adds, stealing a couple of fries from the basket.

Chuckling, “I’m sure. But you do know that alcohol loosens you up and sometimes helps with the pressure to be good at something. In other words, just relax and have fun.” If he wanted to be drunk, she could easily make that happen.

The shrug was returned. It was a weird topic.

Looked like Phoenyx was coming out swinging. “Is ‘yet’ the key term here?” she teases, knowing Corn could make a comeback.

Corn's much anticipated comeback didn't happen, but he did seem to have fun regardless.

"Apparently I will be safe in the dark alleys tonight..." he said with a chuckle as he kept missing.
After Phoenyx 's turn he takes his seat back to the couch. "I think that's enough embarrassment for tonight, I will watch the next match enjoying my reconciliation fries and soda. Let's see how you do, Madison."

The Arrow smiles. "That depends on if I have reason to. I seem to be doing better than last time."

Of course, last time she was 3 drinks in, and this time only one.

She continues working around the table. They look more evenly matched now Corn is reaching his stride, but Phoenyx's early lead lets her keep in control. She grins, happy with the win. "So it would seem, Jacob. I'm going to get another drink. Do either of you want anything?" she asks.

Glancing to Corn, “Aw, come on, you only played one game! There is no embarrassment here, only friends having fun!” but she picks up a cue and walks to the table.

Blinking as she looked from Phoenyx to the drinks on the table and back, “Did I get the wrong drink? You changing your drink up on me? Cause if you are, that’s info you need to share.” Important info.

Eyes move to the table as she tries to figure the best shot to take. Thinking she finds it, she takes the shot…which wasn’t as good as she had hoped. “Think I’m a bit rusty.”

Corn shrugs when Aurora mentions it was just a game. "A wise man knows when he's overmatched. I am pretty sure some Eastern Philosopher has said that or something similar at some point in the past 4000 years."
He doesn't get the joke with the drink and just watches the women play.

Phoenyx still has to look up to meet her friend in the eyes but she is smiling, bouyed on her first win. "Oh! I was paying attention to the table. I didn't realise you has got me another. Thank you!" The Arrow bounces over to the table and picks up her second cocktail.

She sucks happily on the straw and takes up her cue.

The Arrow catches her heel as she leans for a shot and clatters the cue ball off the table. She scowls. Even if Aurora considers herself 'rusty', Phoenyx's luck seems to be running out. She suck on the straw. "I.... suppose I did not practice playing pool in heels."

"Sun Tzu's Art of War," Phoenyx replies easily to Corn, though her attention never moves from the table. "It is as much about identifying when to fight as much as how to."

[Aurora]

A glance to Corn, “But did the Eastern Philosopher have a life? Overmatched is not an excuse to not enjoy yourself. You’ll always remember the fun times, not the times you held back for fear of failure.” Or something like that. She didn’t know, was mainly talking out of her ass at this point.

Pointing to the Arrow, “I always got you.” Plus she liked seeing Phoenyx have fun, was a nice change from business.

Was she expecting Phoenyx to falter in the heels? Maybe a bit. Heels took years of practice to master. “Well, now seems like the perfect time to do it!” choosing not to laugh at her friend.

But the Shaman turns the falter into her favor. “Could always take them off.” She offers with a shrug, picking up her beer and taking a sip.

"I will pretend I kinda knew that, Alice, and that I have simply forgot who said it." Corn said nodding his head mock-wisely to Phoenyx . Of course she would know Sun Ju. Was it required reading in her side? Who knows.

He casually looked and sipped his soda as Aurora got ahead. "I warned you about Madison's alcohol tricks, Alice." he said good naturedly. "And it seems I will again be at the bottom of the ladder. We should do arcade next week."

[Phoenyx]

"Some say Sun Tzu had a blessed life. As well as recognizing when his army was outmatched he also was able to create strategies for defeating that superior forces through careful application of his resources. Part of my lessons when I was training were all about the facing of challenges and how we grow from facing them, even in failure." Phoenyx sounded more interested now it was something she knew about.

The Arrow seems caught between a smile about the support and looking annoyed at the table. "No. I can do it!" she retorts, desperate to try and claw her way back.

It seems that nomatter how much concentration she poured into it, she couldn't claw her way back. As Aurora finished up, Phoenyx was scowling again. "It wasn't a trick. It was... just... Madison has a had a lot of practice is all," she finished a little lamely. She sucked on the straws again, still frowning a little.

She really didn't like losing.
