Milton Calls Jennifer

[Milton]

How long had it been since Milton and Jennifer had last spoken at court? Months, it seems. Not that he'd planned it that way. Indeed, he often thinks fondly of the Haunt. So, he decides to rectify the situation with a phone call.

While driving through the city, he dials Priscus Hazelton and listens as the phone rings.

Jennifer Hazelton

[Jennifer Hazelton]

"Good evening. This is Jennifer."
Jennifer's unmistakable Cursed voice comes over the line.

[Milton]

Jennifer's voice is, indeed, unmistakable. The sound of it booming through his car speakers makes the Lord cringe. Milton is glad that she cannot see this reaction.

"Good evening, Ms. Hazelton. This is Milton Northbridge calling. I apologize if I'm disturbing you."

[Jennifer Hazelton]

Not at all, Mr. Northbridge.
Is everything alright?

[Milton]

“Oh, everything is perfectly fine, thank you for asking.” A pause as Milton takes a turn. “I’m calling to see if you might be available on [date and time]. The roses in the gardens at the State Capitol are reaching the end of their bloom. I was hoping to see them and thought you might like to join me. We have not had a chance to speak of late and I’d be happy for your company.”

[Jennifer Hazelton]

"I'm glad to hear that, Mr. Northbridge.

There is a slight pause. Jennifer flips a page in her date book, verifying that she had no appointments.

"That would be lovely, Mr. Northbridge. I will meet you there at [ date and time]."

[Milton]

"Wonderful," Milton replies, sounding pleased. "I look forward to it. Have a good evening, Ms. Hazelton."

With that, Milton ends the call.
