One Saturday afternoon, Kaze receives a phone call from a number he recognizes.
Ring Ring.
Ring Ring.
"Oh, hey! What's up?" Kaze greets Phoenyx in a cheeful, energetic tone, but without the preliminary 'how's it going' or 'how are you', figuring she's probably got a specific, fairly urgent reason for calling and attempting small talk or pleasantries would be likely to just frustrate her. He's aware the cheerful energetic tone might be irritating to her too, but hey, he's got to be who he is.
"Nothing. I was wondering if you might like to meet up for tea or something?" She could hear his enthusiasm. It was what made Kaze, well, Kaze. At least he was direct.
"Oh yeah, definitely!" Kaze says excited and friendly and pleasantly surprised.
"Do you have a place in mind? Like, out in public, or would you rather come over?" He asks. It could just be wanting to hang out as friends. That would actually be a first, but it could be. Or it could be wanting to talk about things that aren't for talking about in public. Or it could be both.
"I'd rather talk in private, if that's okay. Some things are hard to discuss with people around."
"Sure of course. Um, I know I asked if you wanted to come over, but could we do it in the Tower? I forgot, my place is kind of not great for it right now. I mean, it sounds like sooner is better than later." Kaze asks/offers.
"There's no rush. We can do it here. Does [date] sound okay? I'm free from [time]."
"Sounds good! I'll be there. Thanks for calling me." Kaze says warmly, sounding like he wants to say more, but exercises discipline to say, simply. "I'll see you then. Bye."
